Opening the door to find Margorie in burial clothes, bleeding but alive, he collapsed from shock and died. He was later buried in the grave prepared for her.

Margorie went on to remarry and have several children. When she eventually died years later, she was buried at Shankill Cemetery in Lurgan, Ireland. Her headstone bears the inscription: “Lived Once, Buried Twice.”
