Don't worry. Big Dave will elevate you and help you be less gay.

Artbros, I want to paint the pickguard on my guitar. What kind of paint/finish should I use?

It's made of some kind of plastic.

At the drug store for $3

I love these little guys. They have such cheery vibes. Makes you wanna drink wine and feel fine. Loaf out on a toadstool by an old creek and puff on some good leaf.

Gnomes are the spirit of the simplest and most natural of life's pleasure.

So I collect little Gnome statues to remind me not to be such a jerkoff.
I think many people underestimate the importance of localized commerce in building high trust community.

Farm markets, little convenience stores, mom and pop groceries, butcher shops, comic shops, game stores, gas stations, funeral parlors and so on.

Friendships are built over breaking bread. It's no coincidence that "bread" is slang for money. Exchanging wealth builds trust in the same way.

Corpos and chains just can't give that experience to a community in the same way. You can't drive by a Walmart and be reminded that you graduated school with the owner's grandson.

They give regional uniqueness and contribute to an identity. "That's our butcher" and "That's our mechanic".

I deeply miss the dank little corner stores in my hometown. You paid a little extra for gas but they always had those peanut butter eggs that come in the wax paper and have a printed label that says something like "Sarah's Sweets, made in Next-town, PA". It was for after you finished the gnarliest cold cut hoagie that they sliced up right there behind the single deli cold case.

There were dozens of them. Now I have to go to whatever red and yellow sign mega-chain that has nothing but corpo Amerifat goyslop and the employees don't even look you in the eyes.

I hate it. I want my shitty little mom and pop shops back. They made it feel like home.
Imagine starting an internet political movement on the basis that everyone prior had terrible optics.

Then ending up with the absolute worst optics imaginable.

A Classic of Cosmic Horror

Heralded by greats such as H.P. Lovecraft and Terry Pratchett, Hodgson's 1908 novel The House on the Borderland is considered one of the first cosmic horror tales. A pair of friends find a strange journal in rural Ireland. As they page through the writings they discover a truly bizarre account written by a reclusive old man. Within the walls of a peculiar old cottage, the elderly man begins to experience mind bending phenomenon that decays his sanity and twists time around him. Down abyssal rivers and into dimensional vapors he explores the very fringes of reality itself. And what he experiences is strange beyond recognition. The House on the Borderland is a tale of psychedelic high weirdness that has been terrifying readers for over a century. And it remains among the best ever penned.
