✳️ Why people stutter ✳️

Reports say that 70 million people globally/worldwide/internationally stutter. This is about one percent of the whole population. People who stutter have problems when they speak. Usually, they make a pause before they say a difficult word, or they repeat the same word many/several/numerous times. Scientists found that these people have different brains, so you cannot always stop a stutter.

More people in one family often stutter, so the problem/condition/disorder is genetic, too. Interestingly, men stutter three times more than women, but scientists don't really know why. People can learn some methods/techniques/strategies, which make their stutter less clear/obvious/noticeable, but these techniques don't change the brain. They learn to understand that what we speak is more important rather than how we say.

✳️ Why buses are yellow ✳️

Over time, most school buses in the US became the same yellow color. In the past, many children walked or used horses to go to school. Later, red, white, and blue buses took children to support/promote/advocate patriotism.

In 1939, a professor at Columbia University met with teachers, engineers, and other experts/professionals/specialists. They wrote a document of 42 pages that was about school buses. Experts recommended to make the school buses yellow because black letters on yellow can be seen easily/with ease/conveniently. Also, yellow buses were more clear/visible/noticeable in bad weather.

The yellow color got its own name, and although no rule/law/regulation says that school buses must be yellow, most of the 480,000 school US buses are yellow.

✳️ Why we say “God bless you” ✳️

When someone sneezes, in some countries, people say "God bless you." Nobody really knows/understands/comprehends the start of this response, but people have several theories about it.

In the past, when someone sneezed, people thought/assumed/presumed that his soul left the body. All they could saw was "God bless you." In the 6th century, a plague happened in Europe, and Pope Gregory I told/ordered/commanded people to give blessings to someone who sneezed. In the 14th century, another plague happened, and a person who sneezed could be sick/ill/unwell. People started to say, "God bless you."

These days, for many people, the answer/response/feedback is a natural reaction, and many think that it is polite to say it. In some countries, people don't say it. For instance, in Spanish language countries, people say the word "salud." It means something like "good health".

✳️ Dinosaur footprints ✳️

People discovered dinosaur footprints in the Dinosaur Valley State Park in Texas, US.

Park officials said that the footprints could be more than/over/exceeding 113 million years old, and they could be the longest dinosaur track in North America. Many footprints in the park became visible and hidden/invisible/obscured again. It depended on/relied on/hinged on weather and the water in rivers. The Paluxy River shrank because it rained very little in past/previous/preceding months. Thanks to this, people could see footprints which were usually at the bottom of the river.

The footprints were under layers of sediment and other material for more than 20 years. For a few days, people could see and touch them. Then, they went/disappeared/vanished underwater again.

✳️ COVID-19 is still here ✳️

The World Health Organization (WHO) is telling governments to work harder/more heavily/more vigorously on vaccine plans/programs/initiatives because COVID-19 is still a big problem.

WHO officials said that COVID-19 cases are going up worldwide. In Europe, more than 20% of tests are positive. Data from 84 countries shows a go up/rise/surge in positive tests. The number of positive tests is different in each region but is still scary/worrying/disconcerting. Also, at least 40 athletes at the Olympic Games tested positive for COVID-19 or other respiratory illnesses.

Many countries see more virus cases in all seasons, which means the virus is moving/spreading/proliferating more than we thought. Governments need to understand the virus better and more people need to get a vaccine.

✳️ Why do we have an Appendix? ✳️

The appendix is a small/tiny/minuscule tube in our lower belly. It is on the right side, and it is attached to the large intestine. The large intestine gets water from food, and it moves the rest of food out of the body.

Scientists are not sure/certain/assured why we have the appendix. Most of them agree/concede/concur that it could an important organ for the animals, which humans evolved from. Most people can live without the body part, but studies show/reveal/demonstrate that it can be important for us.

One study says that the appendix makes our body stronger because it makes bacteria to help us eat food. People, who have no appendix can have worse/more severe/more acute illnesses, for example diarrhea. Another study says that the appendix makes bacteria to help when we are ill.
