روى البخاري في صحيحه برقم ٦٤٧٨:
إنَّ العَبْدَ لَيَتَكَلَّمُ بالكَلِمَةِ مِن رِضْوانِ الله لا يُلْقِي لها بالًا، يَرْفَعُهُ اللهُ بها دَرَجاتٍ، وإنَّ العَبْدَ لَيَتَكَلَّمُ بالكَلِمَةِ مِن سَخَطِ الله لا يُلْقِي لها بالًا، يَهْوِي بها في جَهَنَّمَ.

Verily, people utter things that unknowingly please Allāh, while Allāh raises their status through it. And others utter things that unknowingly anger Allāh, while due to it he will fall into the Hell-fire.

The advice of Fudhayl ibn 'Iyādh

أكذب الناس العائدُ في ذنبه، وأجهل الناس المدِلُّ بحسناته، وأعلم الناس بالله أخوفُهم منه، لن يَكْمُلَ عبد حتى يُؤثِرَ دينَه على شهوته، ولن يَهْلِكَ عبد حتى يُؤثِرَ شهوتَه على دينه.

The most ignorant of people is the one who is self-deluded by his good deeds.
The most knowledgeable of people about God is the one who fears Him most.
A servant will not reach completeness until he prefers his religion over his desires,
and he will not be ruined until he prefers his desires over his religion.”
