What is ‘used to’ in English?
Used to has two common uses:

1. Used to + verb → something happened regularly in the past, but not now.

I used to play football. = I played football before, but I don't now.

She used to live in Addis.

2. Be used to + noun/verb-ing → to be accustomed or familiar with something.

I am used to waking up early.

He is used to cold weather.

Structure:

Past habit: Subject + used to + base verb

Familiarity: Subject + be + used to + noun/verb-ing
