Во время киевской операции немцы потеряли 100 000 юнитов. А если бы Город пришлось штурмовать и вести уличные бои, то погибло бы гораздо больше. Особенно если бы наши дрались за Киев, как потом за Сталинград. И тогда даже взятый в кольцо Киевский УР положил бы конец блиц-кригу еще в 1941, вынуждая бросать на штурм все новые силы с других участков. Враг бы не смог блокировать Ленинград, взять Одессу и Харьков, подойти к Москве, а Сталинградской битвы бы просто не было. Появилось бы время на формирование резервных армий, и Вермахт сломал бы себе шею уже в 1942 году. Но за оборону Киева был только один человек в СССР. Его звали Иосиф Виссарионович Сталин. Советские наркомы, маршалы и генералы были за сдачу Киева. А самая неудобная правда в том, что 37-й армией, которая непосредственно защищала Киев, заставляя противника обороняться и отступать, командовал генерал-майор Власов. Тот самый. А командующий фронтом генерал-полковник Кирпонос не имел плана отступления, и Юго-западный фронт, выйдя из укреплений в поля ю, всё равно попал в котел и погиб, что стало самым крупным военным поражением в истории человечества.
Итог слива всегда печален. После 22 июня многим казалось, что хуже не бывает. Но были Броды. После них казалось, что это днище. Но в Киеве снизу постучали. При оставлении Города погиб командующий фронтом Кирпонос, вместе со штабом. Прикрывавший Киев с севера 5-й армией генерал Потапов попал в плен. Прикрывавший Киев с юга генерал Костенко успел отойти на левый берег до сдачи. Последним приказ об оставлении Киева получил командующий 37-й армией генерал Власов. Ему удалось выйти из окружения и вывести свои части в порядке и с боевым знаменем. Оставление Киевского УР и сдача Киева стали причиной уничтожения Юго-западного фронта, падения Харькова, сдачи Донбасса, Одессы и всего Причерноморья до реки Миус. Зря не дали бой в Городе.
