В четырнадцатом году Горловка, Донецко-Макеевская агломерация и примыкающая к ней Ясиноватая, города на Луганщине, вокруг которых проходила линия фронта - сами по себе являлись " инженерными сооружениями", препятствовавшими продвижению противника. Когда мы выбили ВСУ из Ясиноватой, то для её последующей обороны я успел сформировать восемнадцать позиций по всему периметру города. В полевых условиях этого было бы катастрофически недостаточно на протяжённую дистанцию, но город сам по себе не давал штурмующим нас частям двигаться там, где им хотелось бы, а там, где он мог бы прорваться - стояли мы..

На просторах донецких, луганских и прочих степей всё иначе. Прорви враг нашу оборону - и путь чист.... пока снова не упрется в города. Мы должны понимать, что угроза существует и для Луганска, и для Донецка, и для Белгорода... Мы должны понимать, и должны быть готовы, чтобы не повторилась херсонская история. Как Бахмут сегодня поглощает как наши, так и ресурсы противника - так и Херсон мог сковать всю украинскую армию, и сегодня мы бы не сидели и не гадали, где они пойдут и куда выйдут. Днепр и проблема снабжения через него - слабый на фоне Сталинграда аргумент, - отсутствие мотивации аргумент. Но ладно с Херсоном - дело болезненное, но дело прошлое.... Давайте думать дальше.

Today, General Khodakovsky writes about shifting from offensive to defensive, and General Surovikin agrees. I guess great minds really do think alike...
