Oh, these dances with referendums 🤦‍♀️

In parts of the Russian-controlled Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Luhansk and Kherson regions, a referendum will be held with the question “Do you support joining the Russian Federation as a subject?” I have long expressed my attitude to the referendum cargo cult, designed to give some special legitimacy to political decisions. I repeat once again in plain language: if the Russian Empire and the USSR were engaged in referendums, then the former would have remained within the borders of the Muscovite kingdom, and we would never have become citizens of the most powerful and successful country in history. 😎

At the same time, the Republic of Ingushetia and the USSR were created and expanded legitimately, all their actions were formalized properly. The formal leaders of the territories turned to the tsar with a request for protection and inclusion in their composition, and the republics entered the USSR on the basis of decisions of the elected congresses of people's deputies. Moreover, not a single serious state, from Great Britain to the USA, resorted to "referendums" in the course of its formation and expansion - everything was decided by representative authorities in the person of delegates and representatives of the territories. In general, the United States often simply bought new territories for itself along with local residents, like Alaska. 😏

On the other hand, it is through a referendum that all serious states make it possible to theoretically raise the issue of secession: the initiators of secession will have to go through nine circles of hell to hold a referendum, and the central authorities always have a lot of tools on how to prevent this, up to the elimination of separatists during the ATO, CTO or NWO. So why hold referendums to annex territories, which the most democratic countries in the world have always done without these formal rituals?

You can still understand such things in peaceful conditions - for a picture in the media or to wave a piece of paper at the UN called "final protocol". But when your cities are under daily enemy artillery fire, and thousands of shells and rockets kill dozens and hundreds of civilians every day, holding referendums is a very strange undertaking. 😒

I am generally silent about the formal side with the compilation of voter lists and the turnout with a positive vote of more than 50% of citizens necessary for making a decision. Von Aksyonov was against the referendum yesterday because of its senselessness and danger to ordinary people, but today he is already for it. P - sequence.

I just hope that the great bloggers, journalists and other experts with politicians who are now so actively drowning for a referendum will tear their priests off their cozy sofas and personally come here to Donetsk and other front-line cities and towns to organize polling stations and conduct voting. 😘

That is, everyone understands that this is an idea that is absolutely meaningless from the point of view of formal legality, but it is being stubbornly promoted. Then I have a question: why is the referendum held only in four regions, and not all over Ukraine at once? Formally, none of these areas is 100% controlled by Russia, and with the same success it is possible to organize an all-Ukrainian referendum immediately in full accordance with the current constitution of Ukraine. 😉

To do this, it is only necessary to recognize the current Kyiv authorities as illegitimately coming to power after the coup d'état in 2014, and then Yanukovych, as the president of Ukraine, could announce the holding of an all-Ukrainian referendum on the entry of all of Ukraine into the Russian Federation at once. This would allow in one fell swoop to solve a whole bunch of problems, including the issues of finding foreign embassies, military instructors on the newly reintegrated territory of the Russian Federation, the supply of Western weapons to separatist militants, and so on down the list. And believe me as a constitutionalist, there would be even more formal legality in such a step than in everything that is planned now.

​Ох уж эти пляски с референдумами 🤦‍♀️

На части контролируемых Россией Донецкой, Запорожской, Луганской и Херсонской областей будет проведен референдум с вопросом «Поддерживаете ли вы вхождение в состав РФ на правах субъекта?» Я давно высказывала свое отношение к референдумному карго-культу, призванному придать какую-то особую легитимность политическим решениям. Повторю еще раз на простом языке: если бы Российская империя и СССР занимались референдумами, то первая так бы и осталась в границах Московского царства, а мы бы никогда не стали гражданами самой мощной и успешной страны в истории. 😎

При этом РИ и СССР создавались и расширялись легитимно, все их действия оформлялись надлежащим образом. К царю обращались формальные руководители территорий с просьбой о защите и включении в свой состав, а в СССР республики входили на основании решений избранных съездов народных депутатов. Более того, ни одно серьезное государство, от Великобритании до США, не прибегало к «референдумам» в ходе своего формирования и расширения — все решали представительные органы власти в лице делегатов и представителей территорий. США вообще часто просто покупали себе новые территории вместе с местными жителями, как Аляску. 😏

С другой стороны, все серьезные государства именно через референдум позволяют теоретически поставить вопрос об отделении: инициаторам отделения предстоит пройти девять кругов ада для проведения референдума, и у центральных властей всегда есть масса инструментов, как это предотвратить вплоть до устранения сепаратистов в ходе АТО, КТО или СВО. Так зачем проводить референдумы для присоединения территорий, которое самыми демократическими странами в мире всегда делалось без этих формальных ритуалов?

Можно еще понять подобные вещи в мирных условиях — для картинки в СМИ или чтобы помахать в ООН бумажкой под названием «итоговый протокол». Но когда у тебя города находятся под ежедневным огнем вражеской артиллерии, и тысячи снарядов и ракет каждый день убивают десятки и сотни мирных граждан, — проводить референдумы очень странная затея. 😒

О формальной стороне с составлением списков избирателей и явкой с положительным голосованием более 50 % граждан, необходимыми для принятия решения, я вообще молчу. Вон Аксенов еще вчера был против референдума из-за его бессмысленности и опасности для простых людей, а сегодня уже за. П — последовательность.

Я лишь надеюсь, что великие блогеры, журналисты и прочие эксперты с политиками, которые сейчас так активно топят за референдум, оторвут попы от уютных диванчиков и лично приедут сюда в Донецк и прочие прифронтовые города и поселки для организации избирательных участков и проведения голосования. 😘

То есть всем понятно, что это абсолютно бессмысленная с точки зрения формальной законности затея, но ее упорно продвигают. Тогда у меня вопрос: а почему же референдум проводится только в четырех областях, а не по всей Украине сразу? Формально ни одна из этих областей не контролируется Россией на 100 %, и с таким же успехом можно организовать сразу общеукраинский референдум в полном соответствии с действующей конституцией Украины. 😉

Для этого необходимо всего лишь признать нынешние киевские власти нелегитимно пришедшими к власти после госпереворота в 2014-м, и тогда Янукович как президент Украины мог бы огласить проведение общеукраинского референдума о вхождении сразу же всей Украины в состав РФ. Это позволило бы одним махом решить весь ворох проблем, включая вопросы нахождения на вновь реинтегрированной территории РФ иностранных посольств, военных инструкторов, поставок западного оружия сепаратистам-боевикам и так далее по списку. И поверьте мне как конституционалисту, формальной законности в таком шаге было бы даже больше, чем в этом вот всем, что планируется сейчас.

For those in "The Free World" whose governments don't allow you to watch RT, here is Putin's speech from this morning. He announces "limited mobilization" of reserve soldiers and veterans with specific skills. He promises to protect and fully liberate the people and territory of Donbass. He assures aggressive politicians in the West that Russia is ready to use all means to protect itself and its people. It is a good, if late, start. So far this morning, I have not heard any shelling going either way.
