So now the second post.
To restate. This is a major defeat. All territory gained by Russia in the Kharkov Oblast save the most northern parts, looks like it will be completely abandoned. This will severely shake Russia's credibility in Ukraine, in Russia itself and in the world. The Russian authorities promised that 'Russia is here forever' and it quickly abandoned Kharkov - which is a city founded by Russian Tsars and not in the Russian imagination a foreign city.
The Ukrainians - by all accounts punched forward with a powerful fist - their most powerful yet and barely grazed the Russians. From 6 to 10 September they attacked and whenever they met resistance from a Russian unit of appreciable size they were always halted or thrown back. From 6 to 10 September 2022 the Rosgvardia and then the VDV fought while being heavily outnumbered in Balakleya for 4 fays and prevented the Ukrainians from capturing a town they had clearly reckoned to capture on day 1 or day 2 of their offensive, judging by UKR telegram posts and a number of false claims they had captured it and/or overrun the garrison. Russian forces throughout all of this demonstrated high morale and never retreated until ordered to. This makes the complete abandonment of the position utterly baffling and questionable from both a military and, in this author's opinion, political standpoint. Military the Russians tied significant Ukrainian forces to Kharkov city and to near Izyum and Slavyansk that were not directly in front of Donetsk. Now the Ukrainians can concentrate their forces.
This leads to the conclusion. More Russian troops are not on their way, the Russians were taken by surprise at the force of the blow - and Putin is not releasing more troops to the operation.
The contrast between a masterful defense in Kherson and - at the operational level, tactically Russian forces performed at worst acceptably if not better - the abysmal defense of Kharkov Oblast will have consequences. Now is that the time to doom though - and not to be optimistic. Now is the time to be angry. If you are Russian, demand that more be done. If you are Ukrainian and live in areas where the Russians are, demand that they protect you and be serious. If you are not Russian, urge these things - for the Ukrainians have made no secret of what they will do to those they see as 'collaborators' which is to say anyone who so much as accepted Russian humanitarian aid packages. It is encouraging that Russia has begun more seriously evacuating civilians to keep them out of harm's way but they should never have been put there in the first place.
The responsibility for this goes to the very top - to the political decision makers. They have choices they need to make if they want to win - and we should do whatever we can to urge them to do it.

βΎIf there are no changes to the special military operation today or tomorrow, I will be forced to go out to the leadership of the country to explain to them the situation on the ground
- Kadyrov
Kadyrov has criticized the situation:
- I, Ramzan Kadyrov, am officially declaring to you that all these towns will be given back. Our guys are already there. Another 10 thousand fighters are ready to leave.
- In the near future we will reach Odessa, you will see concrete results.
- I am not a strategist, as in the Ministry of Defence. But mistakes have been made. I think they will draw conclusions. When you tell the truth to your face, you may not like it. But I like telling the truth. We talked to the commanders at the fronts.
- It's a shame that nothing was said for a few days. It is obvious that people were not prepared for that. We always talk about our work.
- If there is no change in the special military operation today or tomorrow I will have to go out to the leadership of the country to explain to them the situation on the ground. It is very interesting, "awesome" I would say.
- There are several pluses in giving them several villages and towns. We did not advertise it, but we had a special mission. Our guys have gone in and started their work.
- In the near future we will meet with military correspondents and explain to them what patriotism is. Patriots must not be offended if someone did something wrong. We must unite people around us.
- I know one thing. Russia will win. NATO weapons will be crushed by the spirit of our fighters. Our appearance is already making their hands and feet tremble.

Via WarGonzo:
The fireworks in Moscow looked blasphemous and wild today, against the backdrop of the offensive of Ukrainian troops in the Kharkov region.
This illumination has become fat, and I hope the final line under the completely schizophrenic position of the Russian power circles in denying the war.
From the very beginning, through the mouths of Peskov, Zakharova and others, we observed the birth of an βalternative universeβ, where the war was a βspecial operationβ with limited goals, where there were negotiations with Kyiv, where there were no goals, and the results of hostilities.
The war became routinized, pushed with all its might to the gates of society's consciousness. In parallel, the Russian Ministry of Defense launched a "witch hunt" in order to monopolize information about the conduct of hostilities.
All independent opinions were called traitors and spies of Ukraine.
As a result, the society turned out to be disorientated, and actually left face to face with the aggressive propaganda of Ukraine.
A false, imposed consensus has formed at the top that events are developing according to the Crimean scenario, that there is peace and grace in the liberated territories, and Ukraine will come to terms with the results of the referendum.
Against this background, the process of pumping up Ukraine with weapons, training new units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was gaining momentum.
Ukraine transferred the fighting to the territory of Russia, almost daily shelling the border areas, arranging sabotage and explosions.
A terrorist war grew in the liberated territories, political assassinations of pro-Russian public leaders and officials were committed.
Daily, multiple rocket attacks on bridges, transport hubs, warehouses, and critical infrastructure facilities have become routine.
All this was diligently blotted out of the cloudless picture of a "bright future".
And so, in September, the new forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, fully armed and trained by NATO, went on the offensive.
The only plus of this tragic situation is that the reality gap has begun to threaten the statehood of Russia and has become a matter of principle for the active part of Russian society.
The main, destructive minus of the situation was the catastrophic drop in the confidence of the activity of a part of society in the Russian authorities.
Here I do not even take the degree of disappointment and fear of the pro-Russian inhabitants of Ukraine.
Now, in the new conditions, it is difficult to predict when and how the neurosis of mistrust of society will develop into psychosis or immediately go into the deepest social depression.
The relationship between society and government needs to be treated.
We will find out how much the rating of power has suffered and, most importantly, the president of Russia in the near future.
I see the main conclusion of the situation as the need to give those responsible for the operation - the Ministry of Defense and other involved departments - personal political responsibility.
Now the President of Russia is the main holder of all the risks and negative consequences.
All this caudle of incompetent, greedy for power and wealth, and simply unfaithful to Russia, officials are drowning the country, remaining in the shadows.
It's time to make them all public in their personal responsibility.
The last salute of the past, post-Soviet Russia sounded.
Symbolically, the political pygmy Gorbachev left, who allowed the collapse of a great power.
Now we are facing a new, even more acute threat of loss of statehood.
The bearers of the comprador ideology of post-Soviet Russia should follow their spiritual father.
Russia will again become itself through the birth of a new political elite, tempering like steel, through pressure, fire and blows - into a great power.
Or cease to exist. In the world map, the so-called. There is no place for "Western civilization" for Russia.

π’ From a Ukrainian soldier:
What can you say about the current situation? This is what we have been waiting for so long - a successful and clear offensive. In fact, there is no miracle here, everything is done according to the basics of military science - hidden concentration + choosing the right direction for a strike + more than threefold superiority + suddenness = Success. Although there is still an element of a miracle here - the epic pohuizm of the enemy command. So epic that it was hard to believe that this was not some hidden agenda. Looks like no.
However, I will express my concerns. Calling what is happening a victory is wrong. Now success, victory will be only when the last enemy soldier leaves our land. Therefore, I will not stop spoiling the super-possible mood of many. So here are the concerns.
Compare the battle for Izyum and Liman, when we defended them. And compare with what was now. And this is what happened: we defended these cities to bloody snot, although it was clear that we could not hold them. And then the Command declared them not so important at all. The Russians, at the first threat of destruction of their forces, quickly sacrifice the captured city. Thus, although we are advancing, we do not physically destroy the enemy, and at the same time we suffer losses from his bombs and artillery. And this means that the enemy is ALIVE. And he did not lose his strength. And the further we get closer to the state border, the more difficult it will be. And at one point we will have to fight actually on the threshold of his house, from where he will receive waves of reinforcements.
And also, if the enemy does not run through the fields-gardens, namely, he evacuates in advance, then he follows this plan. Therefore, at the next occupation of the city without a fight - before celebrating, recount with what enemy forces the battle was postponed to tomorrow.
Relax early - the war continues!

π·πΊ The need to "relocate" large contingents of troops by curtailing entire axes again raises the question of the insufficient size of the grouping in the entire theater of operations as a whole. From February to September, they tried to solve this issue by strengthening recruitment for contract service, mobilization in the DPR and LPR, recruitment into PMCs, the formation of BARS, the 3rd Corps, etc. However, six months later, the problem still exists and has the most serious impact on the course of operations.

Wise words from The Commander - be sure to read the last paragraph, then read it again. POWER!
Alexander Khodakovsky, [9/10/2022 12:37 PM]
Well, if we donβt strike somewhere in another direction, demonstrating signs of strategic thinking, then there will be only one scenario: the enemy will run out of steam somewhere, because we, too, will run out of steam by a certain moment, lose their offensive potential, stop - there will be more or less a stationary line of contact, where everyone will have zero positions. Zero, because neither they nor we will be buried in the ground, and we and they will hastily have to do this under "musical accompaniment". And then the main war will begin: the war of meanings and the war of economies. And whoever is stronger in this war will win.
Alexander Khodakovsky, [9/10/2022 8:30 PM]
You know, I, like all of you, certainly have complex feelings from what is happening, but itβs easier for me - firstly, I understood the real state of affairs, and at least not like that, but I was waiting for something, resorting to the wording on federal channels, like this: "we have not yet exhausted our offensive potential ...", hinting with the adverb "still" that we will soon exhaust ... And secondly, I recall the words of the first German general captured in "The Living and the Dead" : we seem to teach you how to fight.
Ukraine has not yet understood, like the rest of the West, that this private victory is the beginning of their global defeat. Without our defeat, the president would never have seen what they tried to hide from him for many years. The trigger is cocked - we begin to reboot.

Kadyrov: I officially declare that we will return Kupyansk and Balakleya and reach Odessa
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, believes that the situation in the Kharkiv sector of the special military operation will soon change, and Russia will go on the offensive there.
He noted that the Ministry of Defense βfinally clarifiedβ the situation, why our units left the cities of Izyum, Kupyansk, Balakleya in the Kharkiv direction - this was forced to save human lives. However, according to Kadyrov, this "does not mean anything."
βI, Ramzan Kadyrov, officially declare to you that all these cities will be returned back. Our people are already there, guys specially trained for this work, they are ready to leave for another 10,000 of our fighters, and in the near future we will reach Odessa,β Kadyrov said.
βThe situation on the ground is very interesting. I would even say βawesomeβ,β Kadyrov said.

49 years ago, on September 11, 1973, there was a military coup in Chile that overthrew President Salvador Allende and the Popular Unity government. The coup was a carefully planned military operation, prepared and carried out under the direction and with the direct participation of the US CIA.
Forty people from Allende's guard courageously defended the presidential palace for seven hours. The President of Chile died on a military post like a hero, with weapons in his hands. In the factories and factories of the capital, fighting went on all day. Today, it is already known for certain about the atrocities of the putschists: having occupied enterprises, the soldiers killed communists, socialists and trade union leaders without trial or investigation. Militants of the ultra-right organization Patria and Libertad behaved with impunity. In violation of all international rules, the Cuban embassy was subjected to an armed attack. The second victim was the diplomatic mission of the Soviet Union.
Power in Chile was seized by a fascist military junta led by General Pinochet. After September 11, mass repressions began in Chile. During the years of Pinochet's dictatorship, more than 60,000 people died or went missing. The atrocities of the junta at the National Stadium in Santiago became known to the whole world, which turned into a prison and a place of execution. Among those who died there was the legendary singer, member of the Central Committee of the Komsomol of Chile, Victor Jara. In the very first days of the coup, the leader of the Chilean communists, Luis Corvalan, was thrown behind bars.

π₯β‘οΈ Ukrainian militants wanted to break through near Donetsk
The Armed Forces of Ukraine tried to attack the positions of the People's Militia near Donetsk. Within two days, Ukrainian militants planned to regain control over a section of the Donetsk ring road beyond Peski. But our military successfully repelled the attempts of Ukrainian militants.
The surviving nationalists fled, leaving their wounded comrades. They were rescued by servicemen of the DPR People's Militia.
βWhen we went to the location, we immediately came under mortar fire. There were a lot of injured and killed, the BMP left, they didnβt give us any help, and they didnβt even try to take us out,β says the captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total losses of the Ukrainian army amounted to about 40 people, several neo-Nazis were captured.

βWhen we went to the location, we immediately came under mortar fire. There were a lot of injured and killed, the BMP left, they didnβt give us any help, and they didnβt even try to take us out,β says the captured soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total losses of the Ukrainian army amounted to about 40 people, several neo-Nazis were captured.

βοΈπ₯ βUkraine, stop shooting us!β - children of the liberated territories of the Zaporozhye region ask the AFU to stop bombing them
Little children of the Zaporozhye region talk about their life under constant shelling of the AFU. At such a young age, they are already afraid for their lives, for their relatives and friends, for their homes and families, who suffer from constant rocket arrivals.
βI go to the farthest room and I'm trembling with fear there,β say the children, tired of the endless arrivals of Ukrainian shells. They know and understand perfectly who is shooting at their houses: βRussian soldiers are protecting us, and they (Ukrainians) are shooting at us!β
