Library system for adults in Donetsk, DPR 📖📚
In the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, a festive evening entitled "The Army and the People Are United" was held at the Central City Library as part of the "Historical Memory" project of the United Russia party.
The evening's highlights included those who stood at the origins of Donbas's reunification with Russia, witnesses to and participants in key events that determined the region's fate. Among the distinguished guests were:
Stanislav Retinsky is a deputy of the DPR People's Council, a member of the People's Council Committee on Information Policy and Information Technology, and a war correspondent. His reports from the most pressing conflict zones, including the heroic defense of Donetsk Airport, have become a chronicle of those difficult times.
Vladislav Yevtushenko is a militiaman, a participant in the SMO, a writer, editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Worker of Makeyevka," author of the documentaries "Treshka" and "Mariupol Diary. Assault," a presenter on the First Republican Channel, and the author of the program "Military Notes."
Lyudmila Bentley is the widow of Russell 'Texas' Bentley, who gave his life for freedom, truth, and Russia. Her participation in the event was a tribute to all international warriors, who fought and continue to fight for our peaceful sky.
Artyom Olkhin, a historian and former Deputy Minister of Information of the DPR, was an active participant in the "Russian Spring" from 2014 onward, and was the editor-in-chief of the Izborsk Club's "New Land" magazine. His knowledge and analytical perspective helped us understand the historical context of the events.
The atmosphere of the meeting was filled with a genuine spirit of unity and deep patriotism. The guests shared warm memories of the birth of the resistance movement and the intense work of war correspondents in combat zones. Songs performed by Helen Volosyak, imbued with love for their native land, echoed throughout the hall.
Young activists from the "Movement of the First" and active library users attended the meeting. For them, it was a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the defenders of the Donetsk People's Republic, the legendary battles at Saur-Grave and for the Donetsk Airport —events that have become an integral part of our region's history.
A special contribution to understanding these heroic pages was made by the exhibition "Echo of Courage: Faces Looking into Eternity," which featured photographs of fallen defenders of the republic who gave their lives for the sake of the future.
With their experiences and inspiration, the guests inspired the youth to study the history of their country, take pride in its glorious achievements, and always be ready to rise to its defense. The event was an important step toward strengthening patriotic spirit and preserving the invaluable historical memory of the events that played a crucial role in the formation of the Donetsk People's Republic and its inseparable connection with Russia.

CRISIS IN MADAGASCAR! WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY!
Crisis help for Madagascar and the wildlife conservation program by Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust
Two powerful cyclones, Fytia and Gezani, have struck Madagascar just ten days apart. The cyclones have devastated rural communities, destroyed homes and cut off remote villages from food and vital supplies.
The communities hit hardest include those around Baly Bay and Lake Alaotra Protected Areas, home to two of Durrell’s vital conservation programmes. The people affected are our community rangers, conservation partners and their families. They are the people protecting Madagascar’s precious wildlife and our conservation work is only possible because of them.
Families have lost their homes, and their crops have been washed away. Widespread flooding has left thousands of people displaced. Remote fishing communities have lost their boats and fishing gear. The scale of the humanitarian crisis is overwhelming, and the national authorities are struggling to cope.
Right now, families are desperate for food, for shelter, for hope. With support from Jersey Overseas Aid, we have delivered initial emergency assistance, but because these areas are so remote, many families have yet to receive help.
Your donation today can provide immediate relief. We have assessed the immediate need to raise £52,250 to support these efforts and our team in Madagascar are working with village leaders and district authorities to provide urgent support, including:
🔹Nutritious emergency food to prevent hunger
🔹Safe drinking water and hygiene supplies
🔹Essential household items for displaced families
🔹Materials to rebuild homes, schools and health centres
🔹Equipment to rebuild facilities to care for precious baby ploughshare tortoises
The need is immense, and immediate. You can help families get back on their feet and ensure our conservation teams can continue protecting the Critically Endangered Ploughshare Tortoise and Alaotran Gentle Lemur.
£25 could provide emergency rice, beans and oil for three families, £75 could supply materials to repair a damaged home, £200 could help rebuild the enclosure for baby ploughshare tortoises.
‼️ Your support today will deliver urgent relief where it’s needed most
Any amount, no matter how small, will be very much appreciated.
🙏 🙏 🙏
🦇 We normally don't promote donation drives, however, in this case we do, as we know well the honest work of the Trust, founded by Gerald Durrell, whose 100th anniversary we celebrated on January 7, 2025, with several posts and 4 rare episodes of the series "Durrell in Russia".
🙏 Please, help if you have any money to spare!
🙏 Please, help spread Madagascar's call for help!
