I decided to spend New Year's Eve in Petrovsky, close to the front lines. I had some ramen noodles for a celebration dinner, and I was not alone. There is a fly somewhere in the house, to keep me company. Businka The Cat dropped by earlier, but apparently, unlike me, was smart enough not to be outside at midnight, under falling "friendly fire", from bullets fired in celebration.

As for me, I have my machine gun with me (of course) and really have more tracers than I need (remember, they work both ways). But I did not "shoot the moon" (though I have in previous years.) First, I always worry about where bullets fired into the sky will ultimately land. Reminds me of that poem by Longfellow - "I shot an arrow into the air, it fell to earth, I know not where."

Second, I hate to be a party pooper, but I'd also bet that there were ukrop drones at their highest elevation at midnight tonight, recording every position where tracers and flares were coming from.

I can tell you, it didn't take long after midnight for the bullets to stop shooting at the sky and start shooting at people again. And it looks like the gatdam nazis are targeting civilians in the center of Donetsk again, as usual. So, death to the fascist pigs, long live Russia, and the People's Republics, welcome to 2024, Year of Victory, may we all live long enough to see it.
