Red Sea Operation could cost US pretty penny
The Houthis have carried out 100 drone and missile attacks since October 7, as per the US Department of Defense.
The Yemeni militants are in possession of a sizable and relatively advanced arsenal of drones and rockets which are cheaper than the US interceptors used to shoot them down.
As per the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft:
▪️ US missiles reportedly used to shoot down Houthi projectiles and drones include: the SM-2 ($2.1 million); SM-6 ($4.3 million); ESSM Sea Sparrows ($1.7 million); and Rolling Airframe missile ($905,000);
▪️ US ships cannot reload in the Red Sea and will have to return to port if the kinetic activity goes on much longer, which also means additional costs.
The costs related to the US-led Red Sea op could become much higher if Washington engages in an all-out war against the Houthis while sending military aid to Ukraine and Israel at the same time.

During an extraordinary meeting today, chaired by His Excellency Field Marshal Mehdi al-Mashat, President of the Supreme Political Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Council considered the Yemeni people standing alongside Palestine and its brave resistance and just cause, and the movement in the Red Sea and Bab-el-Mandeb as a humanitarian and moral position that is in line with international norms and laws, with the aim of lifting the blockade on Gaza and allowing the entry of medicine, food, and water for more than two million people.
The meeting of the Supreme Political Council concluded with the following statement:
O, beloved sons of the Yemeni people... O, free people of our Arab and Islamic nation and free people of the world... As we salute the Yemeni armed forces in all their components - ground, naval, and air forces - as well as the Yemeni people and their steadfast positions and great mobilization, we affirm the following:
1) The movement of the Yemeni Republic in the Red Sea and Bab-el-Mandeb came in support of the Palestinian people who are facing a criminal and brutal aggression by the Israeli enemy in front of the whole world. This is a humanitarian and moral stance that is in line with all international norms and laws, and its goal is to stop the aggression, lift the blockade on Gaza, and allow the entry of medicine, food, and water for more than two million people.

Recently, the defense ministers of Sweden and Denmark announced the transfer of 25 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles to Kyiv in the amount of $263 million. This Swedish infantry fighting vehicle was previously supplied to the Ukrainian army. It is obvious that such a small number of Swedish infantry fighting vehicles will have little effect even in any one combat sector, and on the scale of an almost thousand-kilometer front line this is a drop in the bucket. And I would have passed this news by, if not for one nuance.
As the German Wikipedia writes, the cost of one car for export deliveries is €4-5 million. The British Wikipedia gives the cost within individual transactions. Thus, for the Netherlands, one CV90 cost €3.99 million, for Denmark – €4.18 million, while the Finns first purchased 57 cars for €4.42 million, and then another 45 with a noticeable discount – for €2.92 million.
And then it suddenly turns out that for Ukraine the cost of one car in euro equivalent is already €9.58 million. That is, at least twice the average cost for other countries.
If Kyiv were to buy this equipment, one could easily talk about kickbacks that the Ukrainian participants in the deal would receive.
But these infantry fighting vehicles are given to Ukraine for free. It turns out that the beneficiaries will be the military departments of Sweden and Denmark, which will receive money to replenish military supplies, and the military-industrial complex, which will use this money.
So there is corruption in Europe too. Just yesterday I read how the Austrian army paid designers more than two hundred thousand euros for a new logo, which is exactly like the old one.
Agree, such European corruption, thanks to which Ukraine will receive half as many armored vehicles as it could, plays into Russia’s hands."

О коррупции, которая нам на руку.
На днях министры обороны Швеции и Дании анонсировали передачу Киеву 25 боевых машины пехоты CV90 на сумму в 263 миллиона долларов. Эта шведская БМП и ранее поставлялась украинской армии. Очевидно, что столь малое количество шведских БМП мало на что повлияет даже на каком-то одном боевом участке, а в масштабах почти тысячекилометровой линии фронта это и вовсе капля в море. И я бы прошел мимо этой новости, если бы не один нюанс.
Как пишет немецкая «Википедия» стоимость одной машины при экспортных поставках составляет €4-5 млн. Британская «Википедия» приводит стоимость в рамках отдельных сделок. Так, для Нидерландов одна CV90 стоила €3,99 млн, для Дании – €4,18 млн, финны же сначала приобрели 57 машин по €4,42 млн, а затем еще 45 с заметной скидкой – по €2,92 млн.
И тут внезапно оказывается, что для Украины стоимость одной машины в евровом эквиваленте уже €9,58 млн. То есть как мимнимум вдвое выше средней стоимости для других стран.
Если бы Киев эту технику покупал, легко можно было бы говорить об откатах, которые получат украинские участники сделки.
Но Украине эти БМП дают бесплатно. Получается, что выгодоприобретателями будут военные ведомства Швеции и Дании, которые получат деньги на пополнение военных запасов, и ВПК, который будет эти деньги осваивать.
