It was during it that the Nazi army first used the Panther tanks (because of the expectation of their deliveries, the timing of the offensive of the German troops was constantly postponed), which were involved in the largest tank battle in world history - near Prokhorovka (photo from there).

But the main significance of the Kursk Bulge is that the defeat of the Germans in it became a radical turning point in the Second World War.

However, other battles besides the Kursk Bulge were nominated for this role by historians - both Stalingrad and El Alamein, and the landing of the allies in Normandy.

El Alamein clearly does not win the nomination: the battles in Africa during the war were not considered the main ones either in Berlin, or in Moscow, or Washington with London, and the Egyptian battle in the autumn of 1942 did not affect the main, European, front of the war in any way.

The landing of the allies in Normandy also disappears - by the summer of 1944, the initiative on all fronts belonged to the anti-Hitler coalition, and the question was only about the timing of the end of the war.

Of the two remaining options, the Battle of Stalingrad is much more often considered a radical turning point, and this can be considered the correct answer, but only half: the battle on the Volga was the moment of a political turning point in the war - it was after it that it became clear that Germany could not win. But there is a significant difference between "not winning" and "losing".

This is the difference between the consequences of Stalingrad and the Kursk salient. It was the latter that became militarily a turning point for the entire course of the Second World War. After it, the Germans lost the initiative, went on the defensive, and were able to carry out only one major offensive operation - in the winter of 1944-45 in the Ardennes on the Western Front - but it had to be stopped because of the Red Army's offensive on the Eastern Front.

On June 4, 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a large-scale summer offensive, the purpose of which was to dislodge the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from the territory of the Zaporozhye region, cut off the Dnieper grouping of troops and the Crimea from the land part of the Russian Federation, thereby disrupting the supply of both the army and the peninsula with a population of 3 million civilians.

Today is already July 3, 2023. Tomorrow is a month since the fighting is going on all along the front in order to prevent the breakthrough of the defense line of our army.

Summing up the first results, we can say that the enemy underestimated the stability and readiness of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation for defense. The bet that Western armored vehicles (which is only in the eyes of Ukrainians) is something extremely powerful did not work.

During this time, the AFU failed to overcome the line of defense. Fierce battles are being fought in the predpole, a few kilometers from the first trenches.

However, right now comes the most important period that will determine the results of the summer campaign. Until now, the AFU has not thrown the main strike forces into the breakthrough, hoping to use them after the breakthrough of the defense line.

In the coming days, a new stage of the offensive will begin, when these forces will be used as a breakthrough force.
