War correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky died in a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg — what is known by this hour

Vladlen was holding a creative evening tonight at a cafe on the Universitetskaya embankment, which has often become a venue for patriotic events. There was a full house in the hall, and no security measures were observed in any way—visitors were not examined or searched. There were never any guards in the cafe.

The explosion occurred right near the stage; the blast wave blew out all the window panes of the institution and blew up the hall. Eyewitnesses report that the military correspondent was given a present by a girl-guest of the evening before the explosion. Presumably this gift—a figurine—contained an IED filled with high-explosive elements.

The Russian Interior Ministry has confirmed the death of Vladlen Tatarsky after an explosion in a cafe in St. Petersburg.

Official report of the Ministry of internal affairs: "On April 2, 2023, at 18:13, information was received by the police of the Vasileostrovsky area that there was an explosion in a cafe on Universitetskaya Naberezhnaya building no. 25.
