The problem of training freshly recruited AFU soldiers "according to NATO standards," in addition to the obvious questions about the timing of training, raises questions about its quality.

In practice, NATO training programs, which were carried out in the interests of the armies of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as the Kurdish formations in Rustavi, showed rather questionable results in terms of long range combat training. Many have already forgotten that the US trained several tens of thousands of Afghan commandos for counter-guerrilla operations against the Taliban (under UN sanctions for terrorist activities). However, there were also complaints about the timing of training for some units, which led to the low combat effectiveness of such formations on the battlefield, even when they were sufficiently equipped with American weapons.

Similarly, the accelerated training of the Iraqi army at the turn of the 2010s led to the fact that the army of occupied Iraq, equipped with American equipment (including Abrams), turned out to be only of limited combat effectiveness against the formations of ISIS (banned in Russia), which at the height of their power drove the Iraqi army from Mosul to Baghdad. Only the Shiite al-Hashd al-Shaabi volunteers, supported by Iran and trained to very different standards, were able to reverse the trend.

The same could be observed with regard to the Syrian Kurds, who had been trained and armed by the U.S. for a long time. In practice, during real battles with the Turkish army during cross-border operations, the Kurds were defeated and hid behind the backs of the Syrian army and the Russian military, to whom they were forced to hand over control of the border with Turkey.

And we are not even considering the classic examples like the South Vietnamese army, which collapsed after the withdrawal of American troops, although it was trained and armed by the Pentagon. So the very fact of training and arming the puppet army to "accelerated NATO standards" does not guarantee the success of using these formations in actual combat. The adaptation of the experience of the air defense forces to training programs is slow, and the motivation of personnel has dropped compared to 2022, which is clearly demonstrated by the pictures of "voluntary mobilization" in Ukraine.

Underestimating this process, however, is just as dangerous as overestimating it. One way or another, the U.S. will try to throw everything it can arm and train at the task of achieving operational results on the front by means of large-scale offensive operations.

That is why we should pay serious attention to revealing the enemy's plans, preparing countermeasures to stop them, and training personnel to meet the coming challenges of a defensive nature.
