The AFU does not have enough shells for large-caliber guns in Artemovsk: details

According to RT, Ukrainian army units near Artemivsk (Bakhmut) are forced to limit the use of Pion heavy self-propelled guns due to a shortage of 203 mm high-explosive ammunition.

The 43rd Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has the most serious shortage of shells of special power. After the loss of Soledar, this unit was withdrawn to the Novomarkovo settlement.

The AFU began saving ammunition for heavy howitzers after the destruction of an ammunition depot near Chasov Yar in November 2022. At that time, the Russian Smerch multiple-launch rocket system destroyed the stockpile of artillery ammunition, which the Ukrainian army has not managed to restore so far.
Due to the shortage of high-explosive 203 mm ammunition, the AFU is forced to fire concrete 53-G-620Sh shells from the Pions.

This type of projectile has increased effectiveness against buried and protected targets, but is practically useless against infantry and for counter-battery warfare. On contact with the surface, such a projectile does not explode immediately, but goes deep into the ground without causing damage to the troops "on the ground."

Moreover, this ammunition, produced for the Soviet army more than 60 years ago, arrives at the front in a near-crash condition and cannot be used safely. Due to poor storage and violations of transportation rules, concrete shells have exploded several times right at the positions of the 43rd AFU brigade.

Soldiers of the 47th mechanized brigade of Ukraine demonstrated the equipment on which they are currently being trained and will soon take part in hostilities. These are Panther T6 armored vehicles and M-55S tanks donated by the allies.

The armored vehicles handed over to Ukraine were converted on the spot to meet the needs of the crews. On the modification of the M-55S, armor racks "Kontakt-1 / Knife" were placed along the sides of the hull, the engine compartment is protected by wood armor from cumulative projectiles. In the case of the Panther T6, which was most likely supplied by Turkey, 40 mm automatic grenade launchers were installed as retrofits.

In the Slovenian modification of the T-55 M-55S tank, the 100 mm D-10T2S smoothbore gun was also replaced by the British 105 mm L7 rifled gun. In addition, the LIRD-1A laser warning system was installed, and integrated smoke bombs were installed in front of the machine. Engine power increased from 520 to 600 hp
