In the aftermath of the detention of the Ukrainian Deputy Minister Lozinsky due to corruption, Zelensky warned that more arrests and personal changes are yet to come.

Zelensky is trying to calm and appease the population after setbacks on the battlefield and the aggressivity of their new wave of mobilization, where men are hunted like hares in their streets. But the reason behind such arrests is probably internal strife between different sections of the Ukrainian government.

Good luck in war is an important thing. It is always much calmer to be around a successful fighter, or rather, a fighter with developed intuition. I would like to tell you about how a failure might look, or rather, about two of the most unlucky (among the living) people. 
It was the middle of August. A warm southern night descended on the forests south of Izyum, and the soldiers in the "Crocodile Forest" (a long narrow woodland south of Izyum, three kilometres from the village Dolgenkoye) were sitting and telling tales. In Crocodile was the AFU 144 Division, and, in principle, this forest could be called the nearest rear, as from the front positions of the enemy, small arms fire could not reach any more. 

The fighters were surprised when an AFU fighter with a goat in his hands came out of the night to them "Guys, I've come to surrender," the fighter said. It was obvious from his eyes and the goat in his hands that the guy was a bit blasé, and considering the fact that he had walked through minefields, stretches without being shot, the secret came out that the Lord had indeed saved him. But that wasn't all. 
The cracker initially went to surrender in Dolgienkoe, which according to the maps was ours, although it was held by another army. So he spent an hour and a half in Dolgienkoje, did not find any of our soldiers, found a goat, and after taking it, wandered northwards until he came to our positions in the Crocodile. 

As a matter of fact, he could return to his location and tell his companions that he had captured such an important position, and I think he would have been awarded the Order of the Hero of Ukraine, a TV show, and fame would have been guaranteed. 

The commander, having learned that his flank was bare, immediately sent a company to the village and took up defence. The soldier was treated with vodka and left with a goat. 
On the same day, another soldier, this time a Russian, decided to surrender to the Ukrainians (it happened in the nearest location, in Sherwood Forest). Moreover, this asshole enlisted in the army as a volunteer with only one purpose, to go over to the side of the AFU. So he went through  all of our cordons in the Sherwood and already reached the place where he had to be on the estimated Ukrainian positions and came across a pair of snipers, whom he took for fighters in the special forces of Ukraine. 

Really, he began to say softly: "Glory to Ukraine! Kill the Russians!" and all the staff he had learned for a comfortable transition to the other side. The sniper turned out to be a guy with an excellent sense of humor, and he whispered: "That was it, you are home, crawl towards us, but leave your weapon just in case." 
The man crawled away joyfully, was instantly beaten in the face, rolled up, and brought to Izyum, to the factory. And both of them (the goat-head and the Slava-Ukrainian) were kept in the same cell for some time. Such a twist of fate.

Izvestia's correspondent, Alexander Safiullin, had a conversation with snipers of the fifth brigade of the 1st Army Corps (Donetsk) of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The fighters spoke about their weapons and equipment, also about how the fighting is going and what their duties are.

"By weight, all this is very heavy: a bulletproof vest, unloading, plus additional backpacks — this is 30-40 kilograms that you are pulling on yourself," one of the snipers explained about the equipment.

France, Germany to work together on common gas purchase mechanisms — Macron

France and Germany have agreed to work together on common gas purchase mechanisms, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday.

"We have decided to work together on common gas purchase mechanisms," he said at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
He said that this work would be carried out in the coming year. "We want to establish purchase mechanisms for a long-term perspective and work on the establishment of a common platform," he said, adding that initiatives in this sphere would follow in February.

The French leader noted that the European Union countries have been facing consequences of the Ukrainian conflict in the energy sector for months, which resulted in the growth of gas prices and negatively impacted the reliability of energy supplies. "We have taken measures to diversify gas purchases and enhance our energy partnership," Macron added.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the supply of several dozen tanks to Ukraine would not fundamentally change the situation.

"When the Russian army, which has a thousand tanks, is against us, not a single country solves the problem by deciding that they give 10 tanks, 20 tanks, 50 tanks," the President of Ukraine said in an interview with the German ARD TV channel. Zelensky also added that the supply of tanks motivates the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

🔻 Border territories of the Russian Federation

On Saturday, Ukrainian drones attacked a mill in the village of Tyotkino in the Kursk region. The dropped shells did not cause any damage, and there were also no casualties.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled the village of Vyazovoe, Krasnoyaruzhsky district, Belgorod region. There were no casualties, but several houses and power lines were damaged by the blast.

🔻Kharkiv region:

The RF Armed Forces carried out at least four missile strikes on the facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkov and its environs. According to preliminary data, one of the shells hit the fuel and lubricants storage near the Kharkov station - sorting.

🔻Starobelsk direction:

▪️There are no significant changes on the front line. On the Kupyansko-Svatovsky sector, enemy units are rotating and gathering reinforcements near Novoselovsky, planning an early attack on Kuzemovka.

▪️To the south, on the Ploshchanka-Makeevka section, artillery duels continue. The Armed Forces of Ukraine use small sabotage groups, probing the defense of the Russian troops, but the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation promptly identify them and destroy them.

🔻Soledar direction:

▪️In the Soledar sector, north of the Sol station, the assault detachments of the Wagner PMC took control of Krasnopolyevka. The village is located on one of the roads leading to Seversk.

▪️ On the southern and southeastern outskirts of Bakhmut, fighting continues for control over local housing estates. Russian Aerospace Forces and artillery are working on the identified positions of the Ukrainian army.
➖ Over the village of Khromovo near Bakhmut, the crew of the MANPADS of the PMC "Wagner" shot down a military transport helicopter Mi-8 of the Ukrainian army, which crashed into the Bakhmut railway station.

🔻Luhansk People's Republic

▪️The Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked Stakhanov from the HIMARS MLRS. In the city, the dispensary of the machine-building plant and the old building of the prosecutor's office were destroyed, at least four residential buildings were damaged.

▪️Ukrainian forces also shelled the village of Fomivka in the Svatovsky district, destroying two houses and damaging the local paramedic station. In Starobilsk, which came under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one residential building was destroyed, there were no casualties.

🔻Donetsk People's Republic

▪️Ukrainian formations again shelled the settlements of the Donetsk agglomeration: art school No. 5 was damaged in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, 23 transformer substations in the Petrovsky district were de-energized.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled Ilovaisk several times, most of the shells were hit in the air by air defense systems.

🔻Zaporozhye direction:

▪️On the Orekhovsky sector, the fighting took on a positional character. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are fixed on previously occupied positions and conduct counter-battery combat. The enemy sends reinforcements to the area.

🔻 Southern Front. Kherson direction:

▪️Artillery duels continue along the line of contact: Russian troops and artillery attacked enemy targets and manpower in Kherson and Antonovka.

Ukrainian formations fired on New Kakhovka. One person was killed, two more were injured, there are power outages.

The Zaporozhye offensive and the withdrawal from Kharkov

The AFU have found themselves in a dilemma due to their desire to hold on to territory even to the last man. Ultimately, Kiev’s goals are propaganda and real estate, with little regard to how many men end up in body bags. At the time of the Kharkov counteroffensive by the AFU in September, the RF had not yet begun the partial mobilization, and the RF did not have the luxury of manpower, nor the exogenous supply from outside forces that the AFU has come to rely on. While things should have never been allowed to unfold as they did, costing us Lyman and the greater portion of Kharkov, at that time and place the correct decision was made to withdraw across the Oskil river to buy time and protect precious manpower.

Conversely, the AFU focusing on territory and propaganda has decided to dig in hard for Bakhmut/Artemovsk, even redeploying troops from other fronts. By doing this, their garrisons in Zaporozhye found themselves in a similar position to those of the RF in Kharkov. Of course, I do not expect them to withdraw as the Russians did, but rather to fight a suicidal defense on multiple fronts. Ultimately, the result will be the same, just with heavier losses.

The important lesson here is that wars are not won on Twitter, and territory is the long-term goal, not the immediate concern. The AFU has put all their defenses across the entire front at risk and will ultimately lose more territory in the end. The momentum is now with the RF and the Allied Forces. Wars are won with tactical maneuvers that ultimately lead to breaks that create the opportunity for seizing territory. The original failure of the SMO was trading quick territorial gains for strategical and tactical preparation, which led to massive losses that never should have happened.

The seeds of the liberation of the Donbass were sowed in the streets of Bakhmut/Artemovsk. This “unimportant town” as the West now copes will be remembered as the major turning point, where the AFU miscalculated, and the Allied resolve remained firm. Due to the stubbornness of the clown Zelensky, performing for his Western benefactors, the troops sent from Zaporozhye to Bakhmut/Artemovsk weakened the Southern front allowing the RF to gain advantage over the Kamianske-Orikhiv highway, making the logistical situation for the AFU even worse than it already was.

British TV correspondent Alex Rossi claims that rows of Soviet tanks and armored personnel carriers are hiding among the buildings.
