The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

◽️ In Kupyansk direction, an attack by a motorised infantry battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reinforced with tanks, was foiled by actions of Russian troops and artillery fire in the direction of Kuzemovka of (Lugansk People's Republic).

🚁 Furthermore, army aircraft attacks targeted two company tactical units of Ukraine's Armed Forces as they advanced to assault in the regions of Berestovoye (Kharkov region), and Novoselovskoye (Lugansk People's Republic).

◽️During the day, in Kupyansk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost more than 160 Ukrainian personnel killed and injured, as well as two tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, and two automobiles.

◽️In Krasny Liman direction, an assault effort by two battalion tactical units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of Ploshchanka and Chervonopopovka (Lugansk People's Republic) was thwarted as a consequence of preparatory fire damage.

💥Over 100 Ukrainian personnel, three tanks, five armoured combat vehicles, one MT-LB vehicle, two pickup trucks, and two automobiles were neutralised by Russian army aviation attacks and artillery fire.

◽️In South Donetsk direction, the enemy undertook two unsuccessful counterattacks in the direction of Novomikhailovka and Pavlovka (Donetsk People's Republic) in an attempt to slow down Russian troops' onslaught. The AFU troops were stopped and dispersed as a result of the fire damage. Approximately 90 Ukrainian servicemen, five armoured fighting vehicles, one MT-LB vehicle, and two pickup trucks were eliminated.

◽️In Nikolayev–Krivoy Rog direction, over the past 24 hours, the Russian troops overpowered nine attempts of Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to breach the rear zones of defence. More than 50 Ukrainian servicemen, seven armored fighting vehicles, and ten cars were destroyed.

💥 Operational-Tactical and Army Aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery struck four command posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine close to Krasny Liman and Terny (Donetsk People's Republic), Kruglyakovka and Cherneshchyna (Kharkov region), as well as 64 artillery units in firing positions, manpower, and military equipment in 192 areas.

💥 Three ammunition depots, as well as rocket and artillery weapons, were destroyed near Kushchovoye (Zoporozhye region), Nevskoye (Lugansk People's Republic), Vysokopolye (Kherson region), and fuel storage for Armed Forces of Ukraine military equipment near Lychkovo (Dnepropetrovsk region).

💥 One radar of Ukrainian S-300 air defence system was destroyed near Pervomaiskoye (Nikolayev region). The Ukrainian Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed near the town of Visunsk (Nikolayev region). A US-made AN/TPQ-64 counter-battery radar station was destroyed near Ivanovka (Kharkov region).

◽️ Three artillery platoons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were hit during the counter-battery battle in the territories of Antonovka (Donetsk People's Republic), Chervonoye and Belyaevka (Kherson region).

✈️ Fighter Aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces has shot down one Mi-24 of Ukrainian Air Force near Novovoskresenskoye (Kherson region).

💥 Air defence facilities have shot down 1 Su-25 airplane of Ukrainian Air Force near Ugledar (Donetsk People's Republic).

◽️ Furthermore, during the day, seven Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted over the settlements of Novokrasnyanka and Glotovka (Lugansk People's Republic), Novoselovka (Donetsk People's Republic), Lotskino (Nikolayev region), Kachkarovka and Stepovoye (Kherson region).

Regarding the recently discussed rumours about negotiations to end the war under the formula "Russia's withdrawal from Kherson in exchange for a ceasefire and the preservation of its other gains in Ukraine, including a land corridor to Crimea."

In reality, this formula does not look realistic. And what's more, a Russian withdrawal from Kherson would make any compromise peace options even less likely than they are now.

1. Zelensky and his team give no indication that they will accept such an "exchange." Their public statements carry a very clear message: any negotiations with Russia can happen only after the liberation of all Ukrainian territories within the 1991 borders. And it sharply contrasts with their public rhetoric of March 2022, when Arestovich and other government spokesmen were carefully preparing Ukrainians for the idea that some kind of compromise with Russia was necessary. Now the Ukrainian authorities are obviously not preparing the society for any kind of compromise. This means that the West has not sent any ultimatum signals (either make peace or aid would be cut off) in this regard. Otherwise statements from Kiev would have been much more cautious.

2. After the purported "liberation" of Kherson, the "Bucha effect" would repeat itself—on the one hand, the media would be filled with details of alleged Russian war crimes, while on the other hand, the Ukrainian society would become even more confident of the impending victory. This will practically rule out the possibility of promoting any ideas of compromise peace between Russia and Ukraine.

3. Ukraine is now very dependent on the West for military and financial aid. And this is true. However, the West will need some powerful arguments to cut off this aid in order to "force peace" (actually turning 180 degrees in its policy). And with the media discussing the "new Bucha" in Kherson, such an abrupt U-turn does not look realistic. Moreover, even if the U.S. quietly reduces its aid to Kiev, it will not mean that Ukraine will lose the ability to resist overnight—stockpiles of weapons will it allow to fight (even if with lower intensity) for some time, and the issue of financing the budget deficit could be solved in the first months using the reserves of National Bank of Ukraine and by devaluing hryvnia. Of course, sooner or later those reserves will run out, but the situation in the world may change during that time and the aid could then be resumed. In any case, the scheme "Russia leaves Kherson, Washington threatens to stop aid, Ukraine immediately agrees to a compromise peace with Russia" will not happen.

4. It can be predicted that the "surrender of Kherson" will cause outrage in that part of Russian society that supports the invasion of Ukraine. And it will generate accusations of "zrada" against Putin personally. Whether or not this will lead to some internal upheaval is an open question. However, it will once again give arguments to those who believe that Russia "is about to plunge into a new turmoil and therefore needs to be pressed further by increasing aid to Ukraine". Naturally, this will not encourage the West and Ukraine to negotiate with Putin.

The Ukrainian Centre for Information and Psychological Operations (TsIPSO) actively uses the Telegram messenger in its work. This propaganda centre has started to create channels in the messenger allegedly belonging to military units of the Russian Armed Forces.

One of the actively developing channels "the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade," allegedly dedicated to the everyday life of the 205th Separate Motorized Rifle Cossack Brigade, attracted our attention. The channel was created on September 12, 2022 and already has over 12.5 thousand subscribers [GB: This war written in October 2022], while the number of Brigade servicemen is about 3000 (but it is OK, maybe the subscribers include relatives and friends).

Most of the articles are accompanied by photo and video materials and have from 16 to 18 thousand views (we should remind that there are just over 12.5 thousand subscribers).

We contacted soldiers who are serving or have served in the brigade. And here's what they told us:

— the forms of trenches shown in the publications are not used by the unit;

— the names of settlements in the materials do not correspond to Russian speech (Sneguryovka, instead of Snegirevka);

— if you read about losses in the military units, it is hard to imagine how anyone can still hold arms there—allegedly 70-90% of the unit personnel have been lost! (You must agree that this is nonsense);

— the Ukrainian website (http://gur.gov.ua/) "Military criminals of Russia" published lists of servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation that do not correspond to reality, and at the same time they are shown as lists of fallen servicemen of 205th Brigade in the telegram channel. Everything is identical;

— there is a lot of information in the publications about what kind of military operations are conducted by the RF Armed Forces, in which settlements they are standing, in which direction they are moving and where artillery strikes are carried out in general. An ordinary contract serviceman, a driver-mechanic, or even a serviceman controlling a cannon does not know these details. It's all classified information and only the senior officers would know about it, not the whole Brigade, as the channel is telling us. People are simply in the field and live from task to task, and information about the location of enemy positions is communicated only to the commanding officer staff;

— the personnel of the Brigade are territorially located elsewhere and are unable to launch artillery strikes on the settlements mentioned in the videos and publications (e.g. the village of Oktyabrskoye);

— and most importantly, there is a huge amount of video, photo, and audio footage. The servicemen involved in the SMO do not have the opportunity to use conventional means of mobile communication, the Internet, let alone to put everything on the net.

The Brigade has only one channel, which is a few years old, "205 Brigade Buy/Sell," run by servicemen themselves, and this channel has just over 1,100 subscribers.

Everything above was told to us by the actual servicemen of the Brigade themselves, including those who have arrived from the front line to the permanent deployment location of the military unit!

We can conclude that the methods of the TsIPsO have moved to a new level of information warfare. This is not surprising with such financial and personnel support from NATO.
