"Putin is considering the possibility of stopping gas supplies to the EU":
In Germany, they warned that a halt in gas supplies from Russia would lead to a rise in prices for everything - even for bread.
"In Germany, concerns have been expressed about the possible scenario of a halt in Russian gas supplies amid the conflict with Iran. If Moscow makes such a decision, it is likely to further exacerbate the already tense situation in the gas market and lead to an even greater increase in energy prices.
Moreover, the conflict in the Middle East could soon lead to higher prices for food, heating, and restaurant meals. It is noted that the production of many products requires a large amount of gas and electricity. In particular, energy is needed for baking bread, bottling drinks in factories, and drying products."

Peskov - on Putin's yesterday's statement about the possible suspension of gas supplies to Europe:
We can see with you that there are no signs of a change in the Europeans' position. Although, the president mentioned this yesterday, now the Europeans are already considering whether to postpone the deadlines for imposing various bans on the import of liquefied gas from Russia. Such expert discussions are well heard. The situation is indeed becoming more complicated for the Europeans every day.
Both for citizens in terms of household energy bills, and from the point of view of industry, which is losing competitiveness with every passing hour. But everyone heard Putin's yesterday's statement well. The Americans are offering expensive goods. We have our own goods. There are markets that show interest. Therefore, everyone here acts in accordance with their own interests.

๐ท๐บ๐บ๐ฆThe Russian army has intensified its strikes on the railway infrastructure of the Kiev regime. Since the beginning of March, 18 strikes have already been recorded - stated in "Ukrzaliznytsia". Most of them are near the front line.
Such strikes significantly reduce the logistical capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but as we have already noted - the enemy has started using mixed-type railway trains to transfer personnel closer to the front line. In a chain with passenger wagons, there are freight wagons filled to the brim with military supplies. That's why the Russian Armed Forces mainly strike at rolling stock, railway infrastructure and special equipment used for its repair.
In the footage, we can see the destruction of a railway substation in the Lyubotin area of the Kharkov region.

Why did the Strait of Hormuz "shut down"?
Initially, it was believed to be due to threats from Iran. But this is only half the truth. The other half (or the first, depending on how you look at it) is that on March 3-4, 2026, Lloyd's syndicates and major mutual insurance clubs (P&I Clubs) began sending notifications about the cancellation of current war risk insurance policies for ships located in the Persian Gulf or planning to enter it.
The standard term for the cancellation to take effect is 48-72 hours. After this, the ship remains uninsured unless it renegotiates the contract under new terms.
As a result, more than 200 tankers and dry cargo ships anchored in the Gulf of Oman, refusing to enter the Strait of Hormuz without insurance.
Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and the coast of Oman were officially added to the list of areas with "increased threats of war, piracy, and terrorism". Now insurers are considering not only the coast of Iran, but also the waters of all Arab monarchies of the Gulf as a zone of active hostilities.
For those shipowners who still decide to transit, Lloyd's has set "prohibitive" tariffs. Additional premiums for war risk (AWRP) have risen by 25-50% in just a few days. In some cases, the rates have jumped by 4 times (from 0.0155% to 0.0625% of the ship's value per voyage).
Ships under the flags of the USA, UK, and Israel are subject to three times higher tariffs than neutral ones, as they are priority targets for Iranian missiles.
In fact, the British told shipowners: "Your old insurance policies are no longer valid. Want to sail past Iran? Pay 5-10 times more, or sail at your own risk."
In response, the USA announced that they would escort tankers in the Gulf with their warships. But this effectively turns the "bottleneck" of the Strait of Hormuz into a shooting range.

A number of sources report that a US Navy Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, located in the Eastern Mediterranean, used a Standard Missile 3 (SM-3) to intercept an Iranian medium-range ballistic missile launched at night against the Incirlik airbase in Turkey. The Iranians themselves do not confirm the attack and, on the contrary, spread the version that the missile could have been used by Israel to strike the base where US nuclear weapons are stored.
Usually, each destroyer of this type carries from 8 to 16 SM-3 anti-missiles. The remaining universal launch cells are occupied by Tomahawk cruise missiles, anti-aircraft SM-2 or SM-6 missiles.
Interestingly, the US destroyers USS Bulkeley and USS Cole (both currently located near Iran) have already been used to repel a missile attack. On October 1, 2024, they helped the Israeli air defense to repel a barrage of 200 ballistic missiles, including the Fateh-2 with a launch range of up to 1,500 km.
Asbery Edit: Just to be aware an SM-3 costs about $10M to $28M per missile.

Blinken is concerned that a war with Iran and the depletion of the Pentagon's reserves will put the US at a disadvantage against Russia.
โThe Iranians have put us in a position where we have already used up many interceptors for defense or even offensive missiles to destroy their launchers. Again, I don't know the exact figures, but these resources are not infinite. Production times are very long. And, of course, in many cases, we use very expensive weapons systems to shoot down drones costing $20,000. This is a bad economic formula if it continues for a long time.
And another thing that worries me, if we talk about the consequences of the second and third order: we can deplete our arsenal so much that its restoration will take a long time. And this will put us at a disadvantage against, for example, China or Russia.โ
Oh now he is concernedโฆ.

๐ฉ๐ช๐ฎ๐ท Merz: International law on Iran has effectively ceased to function, โ The Telegraph
- The German Chancellor stated that the norms of international law regarding Iran are no longer effectively implemented. Violating states ignore the rules without serious consequences.
- At the same time, Merz emphasized that now is "not the time for Europe to lecture" the USA and Israel about the legality of their actions.
- He noted that years of sanctions and condemnations of Tehran have not led to tangible results. In the Chancellor's opinion, Europe's weak position has only exacerbated the problem.

The IRGC's kamikaze UAVs carried out an attack on the British airbase Akrotiri in Cyprus on Sunday night. As a result of the strike, one of the hangars (pictured) was damaged. According to available information, this facility is usually used to house American high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft Uโ2S Dragon Lady during their deployments in the Middle East region. These machines are used for strategic reconnaissance tasks - radar and optoelectronic - comparable to the functions that are assigned to the RQโ4B Global Hawk in the unmanned segment. Also, the Uโ2S is capable of conducting long-range radio and electronic reconnaissance on ground targets up to 620 km and air targets up to more than 800 km using passive RTR/REM sensors. Whether there was at least one of the machines in the hangar is currently unknown.

๐ช๐บโก๏ธEurope faces a new energy crisis due to the US and Israel's war against Iran, โ FT
โช๏ธAfter the escalation in the Middle East, the price of gas in Europe has risen by 53% in just a few days and reached its highest level since 2023.
โช๏ธThis threatens a new round of inflation and a blow to the EU's industry, especially Germany and Italy โ they are more dependent on LNG imports than others.
โช๏ธEuropean gas storage facilities are less than a third full, although the usual level at this time of year is around 45%.
โช๏ธThe cold winter has already depleted reserves, and now the EU will have to fill its storage facilities for the next winter at record prices.
โ"This is a double blow. Europe has just started to recover from the industrial energy crisis โ and now it's facing another one," said Eurasia Group expert Henning Gloystein.
โช๏ธAn additional risk is the actual paralysis of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
โช๏ธAccording to Kpler, the first tanker with Nigerian LNG, which was heading to France, has already turned back in the Atlantic and set course for Asia.
โช๏ธAgainst this backdrop, Rystad analysts suggest that the EU may extend its purchases of Russian gas, despite plans to completely phase it out by April.
