- Trump must end the war in Ukraine quickly or he risks dragging the US even further into the conflict, Trump's former chief strategist Steve Bannon told Politico.

- "If we're not careful, this is going to turn into Trump's Vietnam. That's exactly what happened to Richard Nixon. He ended up owning the war, and it went down in history as his war, not Lyndon Johnson's (Nixon's predecessor as president, under whom the U.S. got involved in the Vietnam War)," Bannon said.

- Trump should immediately make it clear to Zelensky that "there's a new sheriff in town" and the war needs to end. Also, military aid to Kiev needs to be cut.
