🇺🇸🇮🇷 U.S. diesel prices have hit a record $5.85 per gallon, surpassing the previous peak from June 2022 as war continues to squeeze global fuel supplies.

The pressure is coming from both directions: refined fuel shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have been disrupted, while Russia extended its diesel export ban after Ukrainian strikes on its refineries.

For the Fed, record diesel prices are another inflation headache, raising costs across the economy just as it prepares for its September rate decision.
