The US hasn't announced an interception of Iranian cargo as yet.
But given the area of the incident, it's likely enforcement of the Trump regime blockade against Iran.
We'll bring you more when we have a clearer idea.

The Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened until the United States accepts Iran's conditions.
The United States must end the war and release Iran's frozen funds, and the conflict across the entire region, including in Lebanon and Gaza, must come to an end. Furthermore, additional conditions have been conveyed to the United States through intermediaries.

We have total control over the Hormuz Strait right now. They don't have control. We have total control. But we right now, we're in a very good position. We have a country that has been the bully of the Middle East for 50 years. It's been saying 47 for four years. And they're no longer the bully of the Middle East."

โ€” The decolonization of your mind, the term of "Middle East" and its consequences

In today's vocabulary, to describe the region between the Maghreb and Iran, we imply the term "Middle East". However, when we think about this word, something comes to mind, East to who ? and why Middle ? Its origin comes from the English language in the 20th century when the Brits wished to describe the region between their colony India and Egypt.

The term "East" is not a mere hazard and was used on purpose by the West. At first, Western civilizations needed to describe everything eastward of their Continents (America and Europe). Therefore, from the Ottoman Capital Constantinople to Tokyo in Japan, this region would be called the "East". East to who ? to Europe and America, East of the 'civilized' West.

To make it easier for them to recognize the East, Westerners divided the "East" into three parts : the Near East, the Middle East and the Far East. The Near East represents Egypt and the Levant but is often merged with the Middle East. The Far East represents the Iranic civilizations, the Steppes and everything eastward until Japan.

With the European colonization, these terms have entered our languages we nowadays use it like in Arabic with the term "ุงู„ุดุฑู‚ ุงู„ุฃูˆุณุท". People could tell us that it is solely a new way to describe what are our regions and it is simply a technical word of describing. However, the term "East" hides a hard colonization past.

These terms were used as well to separate the 'modern, civilized and advanced' West from the 'barbaric, archaic and undeveloped' East who only awaits to be civilized and fixed by the 'White Saviour'. Do not you see the deception behind it ? When we use this term of "Middle East", we indirectly affirm this inferiority between both of these world's parts.

However, we have nothing to envy the West : not in science, not in religion, not in civilization (the Cradle of Civilization was literally the Levant and Mesopotamia), in nothing ! These foreign terms were imposed on our minds and unfortunately, through the generation we have accepted it โ€” maybe because we feel it is not that important. The truth is, it is this important to our societies. It is important to not feel the East of something, to not feel an inferiority in front of a foreign civilization. So how can we decolonize our minds ?

A better term would be "West Asia", for our region is located in the Asian Continent as we all know. Moreover geographically, we are at the edge of it, close to Africa and Europe. By using the term "West Asia", we reaffirm our true position on the map and remove this inferiority's mindset to truly express what we are. Arabs, Assyrians, Kurds, Persians, Turks and all other ethnicities of the "Middle East" are as Asian as Chineses, Koreans, Japaneses.

It is a hard work on our own mind to change such habits to use the term "Middle East", sometimes it may feel ridiculous to debate on such matters but in the end, we can all agree that it is quiet the opposite. Through education, we may reclaim the societies we are. And perhaps, we can finally extract ourselves from this position of second-zone region in the world.
