Following an emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, the council said the measures being implemented are intended to strengthen border and internal security, prevent violations of Iraq's sovereignty, and ensure that no group or actor launches attacks on neighboring countries from Iraqi territory.
The council said the strikes occurred while Baghdad was already in contact with Washington and Riyadh to address their concerns over attacks launched from Iraq against Saudi Arabia, reaffirming Iraq's commitment to resolving regional disputes through dialogue, cooperation, and diplomacy.
