Zelensky attacked an Iranian commercial ship and killed sailors. This act is a blatant violation of the UN Charter and was carried out at the instigation of Israel to drag Europe into a war with it.

During telephone conversations with Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, I affirmed that this provocative act by the person residing in Kyiv cannot be ignored.

I called Iran's Foreign Minister for a frank conversation. Diplomacy is about direct conversation, even when it's difficult. I stressed that our goal is to avoid unnecessary escalation.

I reiterated that all of Ukraine's actions are aimed solely at defending our country from Russian aggression and never intended to target civilian vessels or people.

This is also true with regard to Iran's statements about their national who died and a civilian vessel that was targeted in a recent incident. Our goal is to counter Russian aggression, which is the root cause of all incidents, and it is Russia who bears full responsibility for all provocations and casualties.

I emphasised the necessity to refrain from any escalatory steps, as well as to end any support for Russia's war against Ukraine. This war is illegal and it must end.

Our position remains unchanged: Europe and the Middle East deserve stability, security, and peace.

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Malki, stated that further to the Ministry of Defense's statements issued on Monday (13 Safar 1448H) and Tuesday (14 Safar 1448H), corresponding to (July 27–28, 2026), regarding the air defenses intercepting and destroying a number of drones that attempted to target petroleum facilities in the Eastern Province and Riyadh regions — and that these terrorist attacks were launched from Iraqi territory and carried out by terrorist militias loyal to Iran — and building on what was affirmed regarding the Kingdom's inherent right to defend itself and its capabilities, and its retention of the right to respond at the appropriate time and place, in fulfillment of the words of the Almighty: "Then whoever has assaulted you, then assault him in the same way that he has assaulted you" — and proceeding from the right to self-defense guaranteed by international law under Article (51) of the United Nations Charter — the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces, in coordination with the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), today, Wednesday (15 Safar 1448H), corresponding to (July 29, 2026), carried out precise, specific strikes against targets belonging to those militias located on the territory of the Republic of Iraq and linked to the attacks on petroleum facilities in the Kingdom.
The Kingdom affirms that it does not seek escalation, but that it will respond to any aggression against it.

📝 We doubt the Saudis participated significantly in the current attack. Not only did they prove themselves incompetent in the war against Yemen, with U.S. forces actually growing weary of them, but they also lack the courage to launch such an attack. They probably larped themselves into the American attacks just by name, merely to save some dignity in front of their people.
