The operation dubbed a "rescue mission" by the U.S. Army—planned as a deceptive maneuver and rapid withdrawal under the pretext of rescuing a pilot of a downed aircraft at a deserted airfield south of Isfahan—has failed, following the swift and timely intervention of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
