The death of the first person in the Sarco suicide pod was far from peaceful. The details are quite disturbing. The woman seems to have suffered a tortured death in September, with details just coming to light. The 64-year-old American woman used the pod the Last Resort assisted death group. Dr. Florian Willet, Last Resort president, was the only person present at her death in a Swiss cabin in a secluded forest.

The woman’s last moments were on video to be used for promotions. Inside the pod, she pressed a button to flood it with nitrogen gas for asphyxiation.

Although they claimed she was unconscious within 30 seconds, an alarm began to sound at 6 minutes because she was still alive (but should not have been.) It took 30 minutes for this woman to die.

Video also shows the pod lid being opened several times to check the seal. Willet has been arrested by Swiss authorities after the woman was discovered to have serious neck injuries resembling strangulation marks. Police are considering criminal charges.
