Some very notable extremes. UK & Norway observed warmest May on record. An extremely hot May for effectively all of Central/North Africa.

Very cold in Western Russia & Greenland.

Temperatures soared to +50.9°C (123.6°F) Aswan, Egypt
🇪🇬 which is the highest (reliable) temperature recorded in Egypt but also the highest reliable temperature for the continent in June.

Some very tragic news is emerging from the Middle East. Mecca recorded +51.8°C according to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦National Meteorology Service on Monday.

More than 550 hajj pilgrims have died from the heat in Mecca as record temperatures exceed 50°C.

Brutal heat... New Delhi, India 🇮🇳 just recorded its hottest night on record at the Safdarjung Observatory (data since 1901).

The heatwave has been rewriting many records. New Delhi has hit 40°C or greater for 37 consecutive days now.
