The University is undertaking a training on “Institutional and Academic Program Accreditation.”

Samara University is set to enhancing the quality of its academic programs by launching a comprehensive training focused on Institutional and Academic Program Accreditation for academic staffs.

The training covers the topics like Quality and Quality Assurance in Higher Education: Concepts and Practices, Outcome-Based Education, the Accreditation Process, and Accreditation Standards,Accreditation Data Sources, providing trainees the essential knowledge to navigate the complexities of academic accreditation.

The sessions led by distinguished experts from the Education and Training Authority (ETA): Dr. Dunkana Negussa, Deputy Director General, and Fasika Temesgen, an expert in Higher Education Program Accreditation.

The training attended by academic staff, including college and school deans, department heads, and instructors, will take place over two days, from October 14 to 15, 2024.

This training believed to assist in developing and revising standardized curricula as the university transitions to a university of applied sciences.

The University held a discussion with UNHCR to Enhance Community Support.

President of Samara University, Mohammed Usman(PhD), met with Mr. Joseph Tenkorang, Head of the UNHCR Semera Field Office,and discussed collaborative efforts aimed at supporting local and refugee communities.

During the meeting, Dr. Mohammed gave a detailed briefing about the university and the initiatives to foster both local and global connections through partnerships with organizations like UNHCR.

Besides, Mr. Tenkorang reaffirmed UNHCR’s commitment to collaborating with Samara University. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the university's expertise in Date palm and Dibora mate production,legal aid, livelihood, health and nutrition to benefit the local community, the refugees and returnees in the region.

The discussion culminated in an agreement to sign MoU to pursue selected livelihood projects. This partnership aims to integrate UNHCR’s networks with the human resources available at Samara University, further enhancing the support provided to those in need.

In addition, the president also briefed that SU is set to establish a ‘Center for Migration Studies,’ where the IOM will provide capacity building trainings and consultation.

The center will mark a significant step toward strengthening the university's role in addressing migration-related challenges.

The University is giving Leadership Training for its management council members.

Samara University is undertaking a vital training focused on "Leadership Role in Leading and Sustaining Change in Higher Education." which aims to equip Higher officials, Deans, Vice Deans, Directors, Executives, Department Heads, Team Leaders, and Coordinators, with essential leadership skills.

The training is being given esteemed trainers from the Ethiopian Management Institute, Mr. Abdulhalik Reshed and Mr. Jibril Zerihun, both certified Senior Management Development Consultants, Trainers, and Researchers.

The sessions is scheduled to be taken place at the newly inaugurated Administrative Building Hall over three consecutive days, from October 18 to October 20, 2024 (Friday to Sunday).

This program represents a significant step in enhancing leadership capabilities within the institution and fostering sustainable change in the university.

Samara University Hosts TIKA Head to Discuss Collaborative Initiatives.

Samara University welcomed H.E. Mr. Enver Resulogullari, the Head of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in Ethiopia, for a productive discussion on potential collaborative projects aimed at enhancing community welfare and educational resources.

Upon arrival, Mr. Enver  was warmly received by the university team and they proceed to a visit led by  Dr. Mohammed Usman (president) to  key university projects, including the animal breeding site, the digital library, the ongoing gymnasium, staff residence, Afar Talent Academy, and the Redo Cultural Center.
The University Assesses Progress of Student Success Suite and Master Class Training Courses; Launches Udacity's 5 Million Coders Initiative

Samara University has conducted a thorough evaluation of its Student Success Suite (SSS) and Master Class: Foundations in Excellence for Teaching Online (MCT) courses, alongside the launch of Udacity’s 5 Million Ethiopian Coders initiative.

The university is providing online training through the e-Learning for Strengthening Higher Education (e-SHE) initiative, offering Master Class Training (MCT) courses for instructors and Student Success Suite (SSS) courses for students.

The SSS is designed to support students, while the MCT focuses on enhancing the skills of educators, ensuring that both groups benefit from the educational offerings.

During the evaluation, discussions were held to assess course progress and determine future guidance for participants.

Furthermore, the university has officially launched the 5 Million Ethiopian Coders Initiative, a joint effort between the Ethiopian government and the United Arab Emirates, aimed at improving digital skills among Ethiopians through comprehensive online training programs.

Students and community members are encouraged to register for Udacity training programs via the ethiocoders.et website, which provides opportunities to earn valuable certificates and enhance their career prospects.

Samara University’s Research and Technology Transfer Vice President's Office is hosting a comprehensive training program on Thematic Research for senior academic staff engaged in mega, large, and mid-scale research projects. The training is taking place over two days, from October 21 to 22, 2024.

Led by esteemed senior researcher Prof. Masresha Fetenei, the training covers a variety of critical topics essential for advancing research initiatives at the university.

Participants will explore the roles of universities and their differentiated missions, the responsibilities of faculty members, and the concepts and applications of thematic research in higher education institutions (HEIs).

The training covers key areas of thematic research including its characteristics, alignment with national research priorities, and the formation of interdisciplinary groups. It also involves graduate student contributions, an evaluation and approval process, and ongoing monitoring to ensure quality. Additionally, regional and international collaborations are vital for enhancing the impact and scope of thematic research.

This initiative underscores Samara University’s commitment to enhancing research capacity and fostering collaboration among academic staff.
