πŸ“£ VASIL UPDATE! We are pleased to announce that node version 1.35.3 has been released and is ready for community testing.

Likely to be the version that we will trigger the hard fork with, 1.35.3 works on the Vasil dev net, the new pre-production environment, and the Cardano mainnet. SPOs, exchanges, and DApp developers can now begin upgrading and conducting their respective testing.

These new environments create a stable and clean space for you to freely test your projects and production capabilities, while doing so in a faster and more agile atmosphere.

πŸ›‘ IMPORTANT - 1.35.3 will NOT work on the existing Cardano testnet. In addition, any SPOs running versions 1.35.0, 1,35.1, or 1.35.2 on mainnet should immediately upgrade to 1.35.3.

We continue to invite you to log any node-related issues you may encounter in the node repo here https://github.com/input-output-hk/cardano-node - please use the label β€˜Vasil’ to mark any Vasil-related issues.

As discussed on the August Mid-Month Dev Update, the IOG team is working on the downstream components - which will increase the user and development experience.

Once we have reach our three critical mass indicators - 75% of mainnet blocks being created by the final Vasil node candidate, roughly 25 exchanges upgraded representing 80% of liquidity, and the top 10 DApp by TVL fully integrated - the IOG team will trigger the hard fork in close collaboration with the Cardano Foundation.

We will continue to keep you updated on the progress we’re making and are excited for the coming weeks. Thanks to all of the Cardano Community for the continued support!
πŸ‘€ VASIL UPDATE FOLLOW-UP: Last week, the team released Node version 1.35.3. This is our release candidate to hard fork the Cardano mainnet.

πŸ”Ž We recommend that SPOs and DApps upgrade to the new Node and test it now. As usual, any issues you may encounter can be reported in GitHub at https://github.com/input-output-hk/cardano-node - please use the label β€˜Vasil’ to mark any Vasil-related issues.

πŸ₯ As an SPO, we recommend that you first upgrade your nodes and test the latest Vasil functionality on the Preview environment. This is a longer-running environment than Vasil DevNet. You are more than welcome to also test on the Devnet, but because this is an early-test environment, please note that it will be re-spun frequently. From there, you can move into Pre-Production. This will be your final-stage testing grounds as it matches configurations of Mainnet. It is currently running in Alonzo, so if you wish to test any Vasil features before the hard fork, you will need to configure the Node to point at either Devnet or Preview. We will H/F the Pre-Production environment approximately one Epoch ahead of Mainnet.

⚠️ Note that Node version 1.35.3 will not work on the current (old) Cardano Testnet. Please do not try to deploy it there.

πŸ“š Details on the environments can be found here: https://book.world.dev.cardano.org/environments.html

πŸ“š We are also happy to share that we have pushed an update for DB-Sync and released DB-Sync version 13.0.4 yesterday. This means that we are working through all of the downstream components for your dev experiences. Rosetta 1.8.0 was released today, and WBE/GraphQL/Explorer releases are coming in the next days.

🏁 We will begin the process to trigger the hard fork once we’ve reached our critical mass indicators with SPOs, exchanges and top 10 DApps, so your participation and testing is crucial and appreciated.

And ICYMI: There was an August Mid-Month Development Update with Tim, Nigel and Kevin last week - be sure to check it out: https://youtu.be/IqfGliwPKTw

Thank you for your continued support!
🟒 To our Cardano SPOs: 1.35.3 (Vasil) is ready for mainnet deployment. Released for a week now, we have commenced upgrading IOG’s nodes on mainnet. As usual, we encourage you to test your stake pool infrastructure against the Preview and PreProd environments: https://book.world.dev.cardano.org/environments.html
☎️ Cardano SPOs: 1.35.3 (Vasil) is ready for mainnet deployment. If you have questions, we will be hosting a call tomorrow with our engineering team and DevOps. This will be happening tomorrow (August 18) at 16:00 BST in the IOG Discord.

Come out tomorrow to get your questions answered and to hear from the team about the road to Vasil! πŸ’ͺ
Thank you to all the SPOs who attended the call yesterday. Turning up and taking part (when you can) really does matter and make a difference.
Hello SPOs! Thanks to those who were able to join us yesterday in our call with Kevin, Sam, Nigel, Ben and others from the team. For those who weren’t able to make it, we chatted about the following:

➑️ Node release 1.35.3 is in good shape. It has gone through our testing and QA processes and IO has started upgrading our mainnet nodes.

➑️ IOG fully supports your need to test 1.35.3 against your infrastructure and for you to have confidence in it before upgrading to mainnet. The HFC event will not happen until we hit our critical mass indicators, one of which pertains to SPOs: 75% of mainnet blocks to be created by this Vasil node candidate.

➑️ And finally, we also discussed the Cardano Testnet which will be shut down in the near future. Timing of closure will be announced to you and the wider community in due course. But for now, we want to make sure testing needs are met so we have the environments explained in the graphic below ‡️

πŸ‘‰ Further details on the environments and config files can be found here: https://book.world.dev.cardano.org/environments.html
πŸ‘‰ The faucet for Preview and PreProd are here: https://docs.cardano.org/cardano-testnet/tools/faucet
πŸ‘‰ We've spun out a mixed node testnet as well, due to community interest as expressed at the SPO call. See this message in IOG's public-testnet channel for details: https://discord.com/channels/826816523368005654/915340581411106916/1010097278125617252

Thanks again to our SPO community - we enjoy being able to meet and talk with all of you as we build something great together! πŸ™‚πŸ™
