Greetings SPOs! ICYMI - We're happy to share that 8.10.0-pre is live on Sanchonet.

➡️ This release contains the latest governance changes. It has support for a new cost model for Plutus v3, plus new Plutus byte string primitives. The Constitution Committee quorum has been renamed to threshold in the CLI and a new economic parameter minFeeRefScriptCostPerByte has been added for reference scripts. This version of the node also adds support for reference scripts in the Conway era.

➡️ Governance actions will be live again on Monday. We encourage participating SPOs to come back online and dReps to reregister, if you haven't already. And if you're not already on Sanchonet, now is a great time to get up to speed on Cardano governance. We'll see you there.

IOG remains committed to the principles of open source and Cardano community collaboration, which will only strengthen in the age of Voltaire. For the past 12 months, in the spirit of transparency & collaborative development, the IOG Hydra and Mithril teams have been holding monthly open dev calls. Now, both the IOG Plutus and Consensus teams have established technical working groups under Intersect, following a similar approach. And you can get involved.

• First, the Plutus Working Group will hold its second meeting on Tuesday, June 11th, 14:00 UTC. The Plutus Technical Working Group focuses on the development and advancement of Plutus, which is the smart contract execution platform for Cardano. Plutus enables secure and reliable execution of decentralized applications (DApps) on the Cardano blockchain.
• Second, the Consensus team will host their first open meeting on Thursday, June 6th, 14:30 UTC, introducing UTXO-HD and the Peras workstream, to improve Cardano's settlement time, led by Arnaud (@dr_c0d3 on Twitter). Arnaud will also give a quick update on the Ouroboros Leios workstream as the team begins to move from the research phase into the prototyping and development phase.

To participate in these calls, sign-up to be a member of Intersect https://members.intersectmbo.org/registration and you’ll receive an invite to the Discord server in the welcome email, where you'll find meeting links. All are welcome!

For the latest on other developments from the IOG engineering teams, check out the weekly development report as of May 30, 2024 https://www.essentialcardano.io/development-update/weekly-development-report-as-of-2024-05-31

We'd like to thank Intersect for their support in facilitating these initiatives and promoting a more collaborative approach to Cardano's development. Also special mention to our Ouroboros-network team, who took the first step to help pilot this program in partnership with the open-source committee (OSC) and holding true to the open-source development outlined in Intersect’s Governance Policy.

Help spread the word by sharing with a friend or colleague who could contribute to Cardano's growth!
Greetings SPOs! re: SPOs & Partner Chains

As part of our commitment to innovate and enhance the Cardano ecosystem, IOG is conducting research on partner chains—an initiative designed to expand Cardano’s capabilities and interoperability.

Partner chains have the potential to open up new avenues for SPOs. SPOs will be able to opt in to run and validate chosen partner chains, playing a crucial role in securing them. For that reason, your insights on the topic are invaluable and will help shape the future of this initiative. The linked survey will take approximately 10 minutes, and your responses will be kept confidential and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Thanks for your support and your dedication to the Cardano community. We hope to benefit from your valuable input.

Heads up 👉 Our friends over at the Cardano Foundation are running a workshop for SPOs, Monday 17th (4pm UTC), on the governance functionality that comes to the Cardano node with the upcoming Chang Hard Fork.

I'll be there and will share briefly at the end how to stay up to date with the development roadmap. I hope that you can come too.

Greetings SPOs! ICYMI - we're happy to share that 8.12-pre is now available for the preview network.

Node 8.12.0-pre includes essential changes and fixes that are needed for the Chang hard fork.

➡️ It provides an implementation of CIP-69 for Plutus v3 (only). Existing Plutus v3 scripts will therefore need to be changed. For most cases, no changes are needed for Plutus v1 or v2 scripts; however, if compiling from source, you may have to make some updates related to types. The node also includes a number of bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as enhancements to Peer-to-Peer networking and the CLI including a new debug log-epoch-state command.

➡️ This version of the node is recommended for use on Preview only, but users are advised to test carefully against it since it comprises a release candidate for the Chang hard fork (node version 9.x). Note that node 8.12 includes breaking changes against node version 8.11 or earlier when running in the Conway era (but not Babbage).

For further information about current testnet operations, see Sam Leather's latest update in the #spo-testnets channel: https://discord.com/channels/826816523368005654/915340581411106916/1253656738452996189
Greetings SPOs! Following yesterday’s message in response to the spam attack, we wanted to give you a quick update.

➡️ After investigating the underlying issue, the technical task force has identified the root cause and have successfully deployed a hotfix. This will require SPOs to upgrade to node version 8.12.1:
https://github.com/IntersectMBO/cardano-node/releases/tag/8.12.1

➡️ You may of course still continue to do any testing of this version on the Cardano testnets if you wish to do so. If you encounter any issues, please log them here:
https://github.com/IntersectMBO/cardano-node

Apologies for any inconvenience! And thanks for your support 💪
Addendum - Node version 8.9.4

➡️ Node 8.9.4 provides the same hotfix as node 8.12.1 that was announced earlier today, June 27, but may provide an easier upgrade path for SPOs and tool providers.
https://github.com/IntersectMBO/cardano-node/releases/tag/8.9.4

➡️ Markus Gufler has kindly provided this guide on how to upgrade to node 8.9.4 as well as information on node 8.12.1.

Node version 9.1.0 is ready for mainnet! 🥳

This release includes the Conway genesis file required to cross the Chang hard fork boundary, as well as a number of bug fixes and enhancements to the CLI and API.

We strongly encourage SPOs and other critical node users (exchanges, explorers, wallets, etc.) to upgrade to this version of the node. An update proposal to trigger the Chang hard fork will be submitted when sufficient SPOs and exchanges have upgraded to this version.

Whereas the Conway genesis file was optional in 9.0.0, in 9.1.0 it is required at startup, making it an ideal measure of the readiness of SPOs for the hard fork. However, if you are not a block producing node, 9.0.0 is sufficient to pass the hard fork boundary, as long as you add the latest configuration files provided with the 9.1.0 release yourself.

Parameter settings - The Conway genesis file includes the parameter settings recommended to us by the community-led Gov Advisory Group of the Parameters Committee. They are preparing a report which we encourage you to read. It will be reshared in this channel when published.

🔹 The necessary Conway genesis and other configuration files can be found here (https://book.play.dev.cardano.org/environments.html).

🔹 Watch this page to track ecosystem readiness for the hard fork (https://docs.intersectmbo.org/cardano/cardano-hardforks-and-upgrades/chang-upgrade/chang-upgrade-1-readiness).

🔹 Find the 9.1.0 release here (https://github.com/IntersectMBO/cardano-node/releases).
