Hi All - a quick heads up.

We’ll soon be releasing a new Daedalus to the testnet prior to the hard fork.

The Daedalus 3.2.1 update for the Cardano testnet brings compatibility with the Cardano ‘Mary’ protocol upgrade. This Daedalus version is an early pre-release for quality assurance and user testing purposes only; it does not currently support sending, receiving, and displaying native tokens, so it does not represent the full user experience. Also, you may experience some issues with the fee estimation and wallet delegation.

This is an essential step as we finalize the ‘Mary’ protocol upgrade. This brings native token functionality initially to the Cardano testnet, before deploying on mainnet later this month.

The testnet update will take place on the 3rd of February 2021 at 20:20 UTC. We are releasing this early version so we can test riding the hard fork on the testnet with a Daedalus version integrated into the pre-release wallet backend.

This release does contain several known issues (e.g. fee calculation on wallet redelegation), which will be addressed in the next release. So apologies in advance for any inconvenience. Thanks as ever for your support as we accelerate towards the mainnet deployment. Please let me know if you need additional support or information.

Thanks, Ben.
Please note, the Explorer will be offline for routine maintenance for a short period from approx 1700 UTC today. We’ll let you know once we’ve completed our work.
SPO Digest 004 has been sent.
Heads up: we recently added a new caching layer to SMASH which will make it more robust by reducing the load on the SMASH process. This does however mean that SPOs may experience a processing delay of up to 1 hour from metadata submission to their newly registered pool showing up on the server.
Heads up: earlier today we released Daedalus 3.3.1 to Testnet and Flight. Our goal here is to to test if hardware wallet support is working with upgraded dependencies/hw wallet libraries. We plan to push this to mainnet tomorrow. Here’s a link to the release notes for reference: https://iohk.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/900004620286.

Quick heads up: After significant optimization work, node version 1.26 will largely mitigate the 48 hour performance issue.

Rewards calculations are no longer concentrated at this point in time. We’ll share share an update on release timelines with you next week.

Unrelated to this, we have enjoyed a significant growth in network transactions over the past 3 months, which brings increased memory pressure on smaller systems.

We therefore recommend that SPOs ensure that they have a min. 6 GB (preferably 8 GB), on all relays and block producing nodes, whether or not they upgrade to node 1.26.

We have updated our systems requirements to reflect this.
