We born again Christians really need to understand the essence of being baptized with the Holy Spirit and His power because He's the seal of our redemption.

*BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS*
📜TEXT:JEREMIAH 23:9-22📜

A distinguished Methodist minister preached on sin and one of his church officers afterwards came into his study to see him. He said to the minister, "Mr. Howard, we don't want you to talk as plainly as you do about sin because if our boys and girls hear you talk so much about it, they will easily become sinners. Call it a mistake if you will, but do not speak so plainly about sin." Then the minister took down a small bottle and showed it to the visitor. It was a bottle of Strychnine and was marked "poison". He said, "I see what you want me to do. You want me to change the label. Suppose, I take off this label of 'poison' and put on some mild label, such as 'essence of peppermint', don't you see what happens? The milder you make your label, the more dangerous you make your poison".
The prophets and priests of Samaria and Jerusalem in our text today were unlike the Methodist pastor. They were profane and wicked. They prophesied in Baal, causing the people to err. They committed adultery and walked in lies. They strengthened the hands of evil doers such that the sinners could not repent. The false prophets and priests hindered the people from hearing God's word, thereby hindering their return from evil (Jeremiah 23:22).
Hypocrisy and deception are the common marks of false prophets and priests in ancient times. There is always a prophet or personality waiting to contradict God's word. These are the false prophets and preachers who are greater in number than true prophets. They will not warn the people of the doom to come but declare peace only.
Be conscious of your feelings and thoughts when a prophet approaches you. Look beyond the external. To get to heaven, beware of false prophets and keep your distance.

*Beware of prophetic ministers*
While prophetic ministries are given by God for special assignments to the saints, there is no generation that their evils and excesses are more pronounced than ours.
*1. Their evils and excesses*
a. Their lifestyle is full of profanity and wickedness, either secret or public, v11.
b. They secretly go into idol worship and satanism in quest for spiritual manifestations and power, v13.
c. They indulge in immoralities and lying as if they have the anointing to sin without being punished, v14.
d. The messages of repentance from sins have been deleted from their regular sermons thus indirectly encouraging people to sin, v14.
e. They authoritatively prophesied and see visions which in reality are not given by God, since their followers are not satisfied with the word of God, v16.
f. Their messages are prosperity, happiness, welfare centred and void of the call to repentance from evil and living to please God, v17.
g. They specialise in all kinds of deliverance except deliverances from sin and unrighteousness, v17
h. They give false assurances of blessings and deliverances for filthy lucre's sake, v17.
i. They either have not received prophetic callings from the Lord or has lost it and what remains is "twinkling cymbals", v21.
*Question*
What are the other evils of modern and false prophets that you know?
*Note* Since the preoccupation of Jesus is to save from sin, preach and promote righteousness, any prophet that cannot be described as a prophet of righteousness is fake. Yes, fake🤷♂️ Beware of them👌v1, Matthew 7:15-20.

They may have large followership and be making people happy, but their influence on people is very deadly.
a. They make their followers both physical and spiritual adulterers who though seeking after God are become separated from God and void of godly living, v10.
b. They invite the curses of God upon their followers which eventually lead to mourning instead of blessings, v10.
c. Their followers, rather than having true prosperity, are become dried up, v10. They live fat on their followers who are impoverished.
d. They mislead their admirers into sinning and all kinds of atrocities, vv10,13b.
e. They end up walking in spiritual darkness and deception, having lost the light of the truth, vv12.
f. Those prophets themselves are cursed. Can you imagine being under the leadership or ministration of a cursed person? vv15,19,20.
g. They end up making you vain by emptying the little grace of God in your life, v16.
*Note* Signing up as their church member or online followers is deadly. "Hearken not to the words of (those) prophets that prophesy unto you", v16. Beware, we are in the last days 🤷♂️
*Questions*
How often do you preach righteousness? Do you love and seek those who emphasise rightousness in their sermons?🤷♂️
*Note* You cannot be giving support to a fallen or false prophet, directly or indirectly, and expect to enjoy open heaven👌
*Prayer points*
Pray that God will preserve you from the snare and deceptions of false prophets and teachers🙏
Ask for grace and commitment to the truth to always stick to and abide in the truth🙏
Ask God to expose all those false prophets in the land so that their captive followers will be delivered🙏
Pray for multitudes that are already deceived that they will see the light and be freed.
