❗️ We took note of an article “Occupied Ukrainian cities show what Putin has in store, and one option is genocide” published in BD on 16 Feb 2024
Insisting that Russia is striving to ‘uproot the Ukrainian identity’ the author isn’t even bothered by the fact that millions of Ukrainians who, according to him, are subjected to ‘genocide’ by Russian forces have fled from ‘Russian genocide’… to Russia. Since 2014, Russia received almost 7 million Ukrainian refugees – more than any other country.
☝️ We also recommend Mr Mason to read the ruling by the UN Court of Justice of 31 Jan 2024
👉 With regard to Donbass & Crimea events which unfolded since early 2014, the ICJ refused to designate Russia as an aggressor state and Donetsk & Lugansk republics – as terrorist organizations.
👉 The court also dismissed almost all Ukraine’s demands regarding alleged discrimination against Crimean Tatars & Ukrainians in Crimea.
‼️ Therefore, all accusations that Russia was violating the rights of certain ethnic groups were fabricated.
In pondering on residents of new Russian territories who allegedly had no opportunity to freely vote on their future status the author resembles a normal armchair critic – like a majority of ‘experts’ churning out reports on how ‘undemocratic’ Sept 2022 referenda were, with none having ever been there & none having a slightest idea of hopes & aspirations of people living there.
The author’s claims about ‘reign of terror,’ ‘detention, disappearances and widespread use of torture’ aren’t worth commenting on. Despite repeated artillery and missile attacks by the Ukrainian neo-Nazis, the new regions are rapidly returning to peaceful life.
🇷🇺 engineers have already renovated and restored almost 6,500 residential buildings, utility infrastructure, education and healthcare facilities and almost 2,000 km of roads.
❌ In general, Mr Mason’s piece of propaganda is less than stellar. To draft it, one doesn’t have to go on ‘an assignment’ to Kiev – simply copy/paste reports of the Western MSM.

⚡️ President Vladimir Putin delivered his Address to the Federal Assembly (February 29, 2024)
Key talking points:
• Our Motherland is defending its sovereignty and security, defending the lives of our compatriots in Donbass and Novorossiya.
• The so-called West, with its colonial practices and penchant for inciting ethnic conflicts around the world, not only seeks to impede our progress but also envisions a Russia that is a dependent, declining, and dying space where they can do as they please.
• They [the West] want to replicate in Russia what they have done in numerous other countries, including Ukraine: sowing discord in our home and weakening us from within.
• We were not the ones who started the war in Donbass, but <...> we will do everything to put an end to it, eradicate Nazism and fulfil all the objectives of the special military operation, as well as defend sovereignty and ensure that our people are safe.
• They [the West] have recently made unfounded allegations, in particular, against Russia, regarding plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space. Such fake narratives, and this story is unequivocally false, are designed to involve us in negotiations on their conditions, which will only benefit the US. At the same time, they have blocked our proposal which has been on the table for over 15 years. I am referring to the agreement on preventing the deployment of weapons in outer space, which we drafted back in 2008.
• The West has provoked conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and other regions around the world while consistently propagating falsehoods. Now they have the audacity to say that Russia harbours intentions of attacking Europe. Can you believe it? We all know that their claims are utterly baseless. And at the same time, they are selecting targets to strike on our territory and contemplating the most efficient means of destruction. Now they have started talking about the possibility of deploying NATO military contingents to Ukraine.

⚡️ From President Vladimir Putin's Address to the Federal Assembly (February 29, 2024)
Key talking points:
• Just like any other ideology promoting racism, national superiority or exceptionalism, Russophobia is blinding and stupefying. The US and its satellites have, in fact, dismantled the European security system which has created risks for everyone.
• We need to shore up the forces in the western strategic theatre in order to counteract the threats posed by NATO’s further eastward expansion, with Sweden and Finland joining the alliance.
• A new equal and indivisible security framework must be created in Eurasia in the foreseeable future. We are ready for a substantive discussion on this subject with all countries and associations that may be interested in it. At the same time, I would like to reiterate (I think this is important for everyone) that no enduring international order is possible without a strong and sovereign Russia.
• We strive to unite the global majority’s efforts to respond to international challenges, such as turbulent transformation of the world economy, trade, finance, and technology markets, when former monopolies and stereotypes associated with them are collapsing.
• The principles of equality and respect for each other’s interests guide us in our interactions with our partners. This is why more and more countries have been proactive in seeking to be part of the activities of the #EAEU, the #SCO, #BRICS and other associations involving Russia.

❗️ On cases of Ukrainian armed forces using toxic chemical agents against Russian military personnel and civilians
As the Kiev regime and its Western patrons continue to repeat groundless accusations that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation allegedly use riot control chemicals for military purposes, new evidence of Ukrainian armed forces using toxic chemicals against Russian military personnel and civilians in violation of Article I of the Chemical Weapons Convention have been published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website, in addition to the materials published on October 11, 2023
The Russian Federation is a participant in the Convention in good standing and strictly complies with its provisions. All statements to the contrary, including in the context of the special military operation, are false, and the pseudo-evidence provided are just insinuations orchestrated with the participation of the intelligence services of Western countries.

🇷🇺🇵🇸 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during a meeting with representatives of Palestinian political parties held in Moscow on February 29, 2024
Key talking points:
💬 An unprecedented wave of violence has engulfed the Gaza Strip. In many respects, this is the result of the protracted impasse in the Middle East settlement process, caused by the US attempts to monopolise mediating efforts.
• It goes without saying that our main priority is to stop the bloodshed. We have worked on this since the first days after the October 7, 2023 attack. We have condemned the assault. But it is unacceptable to respond with collective punishment of Palestinians.
• On October 15, 2023, Russia submitted a draft resolution to the UN Security Council demanding a ceasefire. The US blocked both this draft and subsequent efforts towards this goal by repeatedly using its veto. All attempts to approve a resolution demanding a durable ceasefire have failed to result in anything.
• Relapses into large-scale confrontation were inevitable as long as we remain passive and fail to work together to address the root cause of this years-long conflict, namely to work to create a Palestinian state in keeping with UN Security Council and UN General Assembly resolutions.
• We have repeatedly advocated the resumption of direct dialogue between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority.
❗️ Clearly, the effectiveness of our efforts will depend on everyone's ability to put the interests, goals and destiny of the Palestinian people above the current fleeting considerations and differences in positions and approaches. If you announce the goal of restoring Palestinian unity on the platform of the Palestine Liberation Organisation, it will yank the trump cards out of the hands of the forces that, citing internal problems in the Palestinian territories, have used them to delay the Middle East settlement process.

7️⃣0️⃣ ago, on March 1, 1954, the United States conducted its most powerful nuclear test, code-named Castle Bravo.
The American military detonated a 15-tonne hydrogen bomb (the yield was 2.5 times bigger than the initial estimate) on Bikini Atoll (Marshall Islands). It was 1,000 times more powerful than the bombs dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.
The explosion caused severe contamination of the environment. The wind quickly spread radioactive fallout over hundreds of kilometres. The total area of radioactive contamination was approximately 18,000 square kilometres (7,000 square miles). The atoll’s relief changed considerably. The detonation created a giant crater almost 2 kilometres in diameter.
Dozens of people in Micronesia received a huge dose of radiation. The Americans didn’t even think of warning them about this test in advance. Experts estimate this hydrogen bomb explosion was the dirtiest in the entire history of US nuclear activity.
The incident with the Japanese fishing boat Daigo Fukuryū Maru was one of the sad consequences of the Castle Bravo explosion. The boat was 170 kilometres away from the epicentre of the explosion, but radioactive dust caused severe radiation sickness among the crew; one crew member died from it within six months.
☝️ To this day, many islands in the Bikini Atoll are unfit for life due to radioactive contamination.

Here are a few excerpts from the leaked February 19, 2024, conversation between Brigadier General Frank Graefe, head of the Operations and Exercises Department of the Bundeswehr Air Force Command, Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, Bundeswehr Air Force Inspector, and officers of the Air Operations Centre of the Bundeswehr Space Command Stephan Fenske and Frostedte, who discussed plans for attacking the Crimean Bridge.
🔊 Frostedte: Regarding the bridge, I believe that the Taurus [missiles] don’t have the necessary range, and we also need to know how effective this would be, which means we must have satellite information. I don’t know if we can quickly train Ukrainians for this mission, that is, within a month. How would a Taurus attack on the bridge look? From an operational perspective, I can’t say how quickly Ukrainians will learn to plan such missions and how long integration will take. Since we are talking about the bridge and military bases, I would say that they want to have them as soon as possible.
Fenske: I’d like to say the following about the destruction of the bridge. After thorough consideration, we unfortunately concluded that the bridge is similar in size to a landing strip. Therefore, we would need more than 10 or even 20 missiles.
Gerhartz: It is believed that the Taurus missile, if launched from a French Dassault Rafale fighter jet, can accomplish this.
Fenske: This would only make a hole in the bridge and damage it. Before making any definitive statements, we must first…
Frostedte: I’m not advocating the idea of [attacking] the bridge. I’m simply being pragmatic. We need to know what they want, and what we need to teach them. <...>
Gerhartz: We all know that they want to destroy the bridge, and the potential consequences this may have, and how [well] it is protected, because it has both military strategic and political significance. On the other hand, they also have a land corridor. There are certain concerns about maintaining direct links with the Ukrainian armed forces. Hence my question is: Can we use a diversionary tactic by sending our people to MBDA? In this case, we would only maintain direct ties with Ukraine through MBDA, which is much better than if they were connected to our Air Force.
Graefe: Mr Gerhartz, it doesn’t matter. We must be very careful from the beginning to avoid any wording that would implicate us in the conflict.
I am exaggerating a bit, of course, but if we inform the minister now that we are planning meetings and will travel by car from Poland to remain undetected, this will be seen as involvement. We won’t do this. As for the producer, we must first of all ask MBDA if they can handle this. And it doesn’t matter if our people do this in Buechel or Schrobenhausen, it will still be seen as involvement. I don’t think we should do this. We defined it as the main part of the “red line” from the very beginning, and so we will only take part in training.
We’ll tell them that we will draft a roadmap. The training period needs to be divided into several phases. A long phase will last four months, during which we will thoroughly train them, including the bridge option. A short phase will last two weeks, to teach them to use the missiles as soon as possible. And once they have been trained, we’ll ask the Brits if they would take over at that stage. I believe this would be the right course of action. Just imagine the uproar if the media were to find out about our personnel in Schrobenhausen or our car trips to Poland. I regard this option as unacceptable.
<...>
🔊 Gerhartz: We are fighting a war that uses many more modern technologies than our good ol' Luftwaffe did.

🇷🇺🇿🇦On 1 March 2024, the delegation of the Russian Embassy in South Africa led by Ambassador Ilya Rogachev paid a visit to Utrecht, Kwazulu-Natal, to honour the memory of Russian volunteers who took part in the second Anglo-Boer war.
🕯Rector of St Sergius Orthodox Church in Midrand Daniil Lugovoy served a lity for those fallen during the conflict that was followed by the wreath-laying ceremony to Leo Pokrowsky monument as well as the Wall of Memory with names of 90 Russian volunteers. The event was also attended by the Old Parsonage Museum representatives and local community members.
⚔ L.Pokrowsky was among more than 200 Russian volunteers who had arrived in South Africa to assist the Boers in their struggle against the British colonial oppression. He was placed in command of one of the Boer guerilla units and gained fame as a brave officer, for which he was awarded the rank of captain.
L.Pokrowsky was killed in a skirmish on Christmas Day of 1900, when he and his men attacked the British garrison in Utrecht. Following a quarter-century after his death, his fellow soldiers erected a monument to commemorate the Russian officer.
☝️🏻 To this day the Old Parsonage Museum regularly expands its collection, including placing new artifacts related to the participation of the Russian volunteers in the second Anglo-Boer war.
