🎞 Today we are once again travelling to a marvelous city in central Russia
❓Did you know that Uglich is one of the oldest towns in Russia? The results of archeological researches affirm that a settlement, situated at the place of the Uglich Kremlin, existed almost since the beginning of the Christian era.
⚔️ Shrouded in rich history, Uglich witnessed some truly dramatic events, which brought the whole country to the Time of Troubles. In 1591 the younger son of Ivan the Terrible, Prince Dmitry, was murdered here at the age of 10. Later, by the order of the Romanov Tsars, Uglich was turned into a place of pilgrimage.
⛪️ Moreover, the 17th-century Alekseevsky Monastery, along with the beautiful golden-domed Resurrection Monastery, that is defined to be on your Uglich itinerary as well.
📍Located at the picturesque banks of the Volga River, ancient but well-preserved Uglich is an ideal way to get closer to the Russian culture.
Let us explore it with the @tvbrics episode

🇸🇹 Today, Sao Tome and Principe is celebrating Independence Day!
⚓️ As far back as the 15th century, the Portuguese discovered the two islands and founded the first settlements there, gradually turning the new territory into another colony and a transhipment hub for further expansion on the African continent.
🌾 As agriculture developed on the islands, slavery began to thrive in Sao Tome and Principe under Europe’s colonial approach and worldview. Although slavery was officially abolished in 1876, humiliating working conditions persisted at plantations for a long time.
This state of affairs caused well-justified discontent among the local people, and the situation sometimes devolved into civil unrest. The Committee for the Liberation of Sao Tome and Principe was established in 1960, and it was renamed the Movement for the Liberation of Sao Tome and Principe in 1972.
🥀 Following the 1974 Carnation Revolution in Portugal, national liberation movements became more active in Portugal’s colonies. As a result, Sao Tome and Principe declared independence on July 12, 1975.
🤝 The Soviet Union consistently supported the struggle of the people of Sao Tome and Principe for freedom. Our countries established diplomatic relations on August 9, 1975, less than a month after the declaration of independence of the new African state.
🇷🇺🇸🇹 Today, Russia and Sao Tome and Principe maintain friendly ties. We continue to expand mutually beneficial political, trade and economic cooperation. Russia and Sao Tome and Principe retain similar approaches towards the majority of international issues, including the necessity to strengthen the central role of the UN and forging a polycentric world order.
🎊 We congratulate our colleagues on their national day, and wish our friends from Sao Tome and Principe prosperity and well-being!

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with Lenta.ru online newspaper (July 13, 2023)
Key points:
🔸 We have to admit that Vladimir Zelensky’s Western curators completely refuse any form of de-escalation. The Kiev regime has directly and immediately rejected the possibility of talks on peace initiatives proposed by China, Brazil and African countries.
🔸 Must be recognized the new territorial reality following the free expression of the will of residents of the Donbass people’s republics and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in favour of political integration with Russia.
❗️ The Kiev authorities must guarantee the rights of Russian speakers and ethnic minorities in Ukraine, including the official status of the Russian language.
🔸 We warned the UN Security Council about the plans of the Ukrainian neo-Nazis to destroy the dam back in October last year. The lack of response on the part of the United Nations Secretariat has reinforced the confidence of the Ukrainian authorities that they will get away with it.
🔸 The United States and its NATO satellites are creating risks of a direct armed clash with Russia, and this is fraught with catastrophic consequences.
🔸 Russia is ready to help strengthen the sovereignty of African states and all their security dimensions in every possible way. This is the key idea of the upcoming the Russia-Africa Summit in St Petersburg.
🔸 Aggressive steps by unfriendly states create an existential threat for Russia. We will have to uphold our right to free and sovereign development using all available means.
🔸 We realise that a stronger multipolar world is a reality, rather than someone’s whim. The updated Foreign Policy Concept proclaims Russia’s civilisational mission as a world power.

⚡️ On the results of the NATO summit in Vilnius ⚡️
🗓 On July 11-12, Vilnius hosted a summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Its results show that NATO has once again returned to the Cold War schemes, this time to protect “their one billion” from the other part of humanity based on the ideology of dividing the world into “democracies and autocracies.”
Led by the United States, the collective West refuses to accept the rise of a multipolar world and intends to use every instrument at its disposal, including military methods, to defend is hegemony. NATO’s attempts to use the UN Charter to camouflage its aggressive aspirations and actions are not credible. The bloc and the global organisation have nothing in common.
The Western “rules-based order” is a misappropriated prerogative to violate international law. The results of NATO’s actions are well known; they include the proliferation of instability, the destruction of states, the rise of terrorism, war crimes committed with impunity, the death of civilians, including children, and an endless wave of refugees.
<...>
❗️ NATO, which is whipping up militarisation and aggravating military-political tension to ensure its superiority, continues with its provocative expansion policy. The focus of its aspirations is Ukraine’s further integration with NATO.
<...>
☝️ We will scrutinise the results of the Vilnius summit. Taking into account the threats and challenges to Russia’s security and interests, we will use all the means and methods available to provide a prompt and appropriate response to them. In addition to the decisions taken, we will continue to strengthen our military structure and the country’s defence system.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video address to the Eurasian Forum of Young Diplomats, Diplomacy of the New Multipolar World, on the sidelines of the Manzherok Festival (July 12, 2023)
💬 I am glad to have this opportunity to address the participants of the 8th Eurasian Forum of Young Diplomats, which is taking place this year on the sidelines of the Manzherok Festival in hospitable Gorno-Altaisk.
The declared theme of your gathering – Diplomacy of the New Multipolar World – sounds more relevant than ever. We are all witnesses of truly historic changes taking place in the international arena. The undivided dominance of the "collective West" is coming to an end. At the same time, new centres of development are gaining momentum, primarily in Eurasia, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
<...>
It is especially important that the emerging multipolarity should not be based on military-political and economic confrontation between the key world players, but on an agreed balance of interests. On cooperation, not rivalry. In this regard, it is difficult to overestimate the role of classical diplomacy based on universally recognised international legal rules, primarily the principles of the UN Charter, respect for the cultural and civilisational diversity of the world, and the right of peoples to choose their own models of development.
<...>
🤝 I assume that your meeting, which is based on the concept of "horizontal diplomacy", will also make a useful contribution to maintaining an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding. I am convinced that the Forum will be held in a friendly and informal manner, allowing us to exchange professional experience and establish mutually useful contacts, and, of course, to get better acquainted with the unique cultural and natural heritage of the Altai Republic.
I wish you fruitful discussions and all the best.

⚡️ Report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation "Human Rights Situation in Certain Countries" ⚡️
This report is a further effort by the Russian Foreign Ministry to bring public attention to human rights challenges facing today's international community.
👉 A full version of the report
The double-standards phenomena remains a major challenge as regards human rights assessments. It is evident that year after year the "collective West" has been increasingly resorting to this approach in order to fuel confrontation. These states have completely discredited everything they said about the universal nature of human rights. In fact, some members of the international community have blatantly instrumentalized the human rights agenda to serve the political interests of certain states and to interfere in internal affairs and infringe the sovereignty of independent states.
This report looks into the human rights situation in certain countries, including those that consider themselves advanced democracies which claim to set standards in human rights protection, as well as those that seek to join them.
We believe that the emerging new world and fairer system of international relations will make it possible to fully implement the principle of genuine respect for the sovereignty, as well as historical, cultural, religious, and national particularities of states across the world. Such system will be free from colonialism, neo-colonialism, racism, racial discrimination and related intolerance.
☝️ This report includes negative examples from both the present and the recent past, which, for the most part, we are all well aware of, to illustrate behaviours the entire constructive-minded international community needs to stand up to.
