🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions following the meeting of Foreign Ministers from BRICS and Global South and Global East countries (Nizhny Novgorod, June 11, 2024)
💬 We have just completed our two-day programme. Yesterday, we worked with the #BRICS countries, and continued our discussions today with the invited countries which have yet to join BRICS. They expressed their firm commitment to forging closer ties with this association. Apart from the ten BRICS countries, another 12 nations of the Global Majority representing Asia, Africa and Latin America joined us today.
We discussed the most pressing and relevant international issues and challenges which all countries face today, as well as the present-day international environment and the role the Global Majority plays in shaping the global agenda.
During the BRICS segment of our meeting and today, in the presence of the invited countries, all delegations spoke out in favour of reforming the existing global governance framework by focusing on enabling the Global South to play a bigger role in it. We noted the need to undertake collective efforts in order to achieve the sustainable development goals, ensure security and foster economic growth.
Most of the delegations emphasised the destructive nature of protectionism in trade. The US and its allies have been sticking to this destructive policy.

❗️ All meeting participants without exception paid special attention to the developments in the Gaza Strip where the death toll stands at 37,000, while about 100,000 people were wounded. The military operation continues there, resulting in more and more casualties among innocent people.
We emphasised that there is no alternative to undertaking consistent efforts designed to support the emergence of a multipolar world order based on the sovereign equality of states as set forth in the UN Charter, as well as an equitable interstate dialogue free from any hidden agendas and aimed at coming up with collective solutions for addressing the objectives and issues the world faces today.

📅 On June 10-11, as a representative of the country that chairs #BRICS this year, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting of the BRICS Foreign Ministers and guest countries in Nizhny Novgorod.
The Ministers had a substantive exchange of opinions on pressing items on the global agenda and discussed the creation of a multipolar international order, regional crises, countering newly arisen challenges and threats, and cooperation between the BRICS countries on multilateral platforms.
The Ministers discussed prospects for promoting strategic partnership within BRICS, including the establishment of a new category of “partner countries.” The participants noted the importance of strengthening cooperation in transport, finance and the economy, among other spheres.
🤝 The meeting also included an expanded session with the participation of Foreign Ministers from the Global South and Global East. Engaging discussions were held covering the state and prospects for reforming the international system in the interest of ensuring fair and equal security, sustainable development and lasting economic growth for all countries without exception.

• Уже девять месяцев продолжается операция Израиля в Газе. За это время убито более 37,5 тысяч палестинцев, по большей части женщин и детей, число раненых перешло отметку в 86 тысяч человек, десятки тысяч числятся пропавшими без вести. Погибло также более 1500 израильтян и иностранцев, а 120 заложников до сих пор удерживаются в плену. В анклаве практически полностью уничтожена гражданская инфраструктура, включая больницы, школы и жилой фонд.
• На оккупированных палестинских землях продолжают возводиться все новые израильские поселенческие комплексы, а местных жителей выгоняют из домов под предлогом отсутствия выданных оккупирующей державой разрешений.
• Операция в Рафахе, о недопустимости которой говорили все члены СБ, увы, идет полным ходом. Резолюция 2735 про некую «сделку», конечным итогом которой должно было стать прекращение огня, – так, по крайней мере, утверждали американские авторы, не работает. Проданный Совету под видом рецепта спасения Газы «кот в мешке», как мы и предупреждали, оказался пустышкой.
• Самые мрачные предположения о последствиях для мирного населения от штурма Рафаха оправдались. В попытке добраться до командиров ХАМАС израильтяне наносили неизбирательные удары по лагерям беженцев, что привело к огромным жертвам среди гражданских лиц.
• По данным БАПОР, 69% школьных зданий, в которых размещались перемещенные лица в Газе, подвергались и подвергаются ежедневным бомбардировкам.

Уже сейчас следует думать насчет того, как не допустить повторения нынешней эскалации палестино-израильского конфликта. Необходим запуск переговорного процесса на равноправной основе между палестинцами и израильтянами по комплексу вопросов окончательного статуса, итогом которого было бы создание палестинского государства в границах 1967 г, со столицей в Восточном Иерусалиме, сосуществующего в мире и безопасности с Израилем в соответствии с одобренными международно-правовыми решениями.
👉Убеждены, что членство Палестины в ООН только способствовало бы этому.

В связи с окончанием 2023-2024 учебного года в Посольстве России в Кувейте 26 июня состоялось торжественное вручение аттестатов о среднем и основном общем образовании учащимся школы при диппредставительстве.

7️⃣9️⃣ years ago, on June 26, 1945, The United Nations Charter was signed, which became the main result of the San Francisco Conference.
This fundamental document was signed by 50 participating countries, including the USSR as well as its constituent entities: the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. On behalf of the USSR, the UN Charter was signed by Andrey Gromyko.
The establishing of the UN – a universal international organization, the main goals of which are defined as the maintenance and strengthening of peace and security – was a natural consequence of the Second World War, an expression of the desire of the world community to resolve conflicts without global military action.
📃 The UN Charter is a fundamental international document mandating the main principles and norms of states’ international behaviour and regulating relations between states as well as the activities of UN agencies and organisations within its system.
🇺🇳 Today, the UN comprises 1️⃣9️⃣3️⃣ Member States, with its activities embracing every sphere of the planet’s international, political, economic, social, cultural, and humanitarian life through its specialised agencies, committees and sub-committees.
🇷🇺 Russia invariably remains committed to multilateralism and the UN’s coordinating role in world affairs, and is actively involved in the effort to reform and adapt the UN to new international realities.

في 24 يونيو 2024 التقى سفير روسيا الاتحادية لدى دولة الكويت السيد فلاديمير جيلتوف مع قيادة مركز الأبحاث الاستراتيجية "مركز دراسات الخليج والجزيرة العربية". وتم الحوار البناء والمثمر بين الطرفين حيث تبادلا الجانبان الرؤيا حول القضايا الملحة على الساحة الدولية والإقليمية. هذا وجرى اللقاء في جو ودي جدا حيث استفاد منه مركز "الخليج" – مركز الأبحاث الأكاديمي الكويتي الرائد.

Состоялось обоюдополезное общение с обменом взглядами и оценками злободневных сюжетов международной и региональной повесток дня.
