The Chief Guest of the reception was Air Marshal Shakeel Ghazanfar, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff.
💬 In his opening remarks, Ambassador Khorev informed the guests about the history of the holiday and the glorious victories of the Russian army and navy, noting the outstanding commanders Alexander Nevsky, Alexander Suvorov, Mikhail Kutuzov, Georgy Zhukov, Konstantin Rokossovsky, and Alexander Vasilevsky.
❗️The Russian Ambassador emphasized that despite unprecedented pressure and opposition from the collective West, the Russian armed forces continue to play a key role in ensuring security, protecting the civilian population, and defending Russia's right to an independent path of development.

The Press Bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (SVR) reports that, according to intelligence received by the SVR, the UK and France are aware that the situation developing in Ukraine leaves no chances for them to achieve the ardently desired victory over Russia with the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces.
However, British and French elites are not ready to accept defeat. It is believed that Ukraine should be supplied with a “Wunderwaffe”. Kiev would be able to aspire to more advantageous terms of ceasing the hostilities if it possesses a nuclear or at least a so-called “dirty” bomb. Berlin has prudently refused to take part in this dangerous venture.
At present, according to the information available to the SVR, London and Paris are actively working over the issue of providing Kiev with a weapon of this kind, as well as with means of its delivery. This involves a covert transfer of relevant European-made components, equipment and technologies to Ukraine.
❗️ As an option, the French small-size TN-75 warhead from the M51.1 submarine-launched ballistic missile is being considered.
The British and French realize that their designs imply a gross violation of the international law, first and foremost the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and carry the risk of destroying the global non-proliferation system. Consequently, the Westerners’ main efforts are focused on making Kiev’s possession of nuclear weapon look like it was developed by Ukrainians themselves.
These extremely dangerous plans of London and Paris prove that they have lost touch with reality. Their hopes to escape from responsibility are baseless, especially bearing in mind that there is nothing hidden that will not eventually be disclosed. In the military, political and diplomatic circles there are plenty of sober-minded people understanding that reckless actions of their leaders pose a threat to the entire world.

🔸️Since the West-backed coup in Ukraine brought neo-nationalist forces to power in Kiev in 2014, Russia has been doing its best to find a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian crisis. <…> Had the Ukrainian leadership complied with the provisions of the document it signed [the Minsk Agreements], there would be no hostilities now;

This was followed by the signing of Treaties on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between Russia and the Donbass republics. In accordance with these treaties' provisions, in line with international law, Russian troops launched a special military operation to protect the Donbass territory from the Ukrainian forces on February 24, 2022;
🔸️Despite Russia's steady gains on the battlefield, our country has always remained open to peace talks. The two sides came closest to reaching a peace settlement in April 2022, when Russian and Ukrainian negotiators reached an agreement in Istanbul. However, Kiev's European "friends," particularly former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, prevented reconciliation with Moscow, urging their proxies to continue hostilities with Russia;
🔸️Europeans' continued determination to throw their taxpayers' money down the drain is astonishing. They have clearly learned nothing from the recent corruption scandal in Ukraine, which revealed Zelensky's inner circle's involvement in embezzling $100 million — just the tip of the iceberg;
🔸️We welcome the ongoing peace process, in which the United States is playing an important role. Russia remains committed to the "spirit of Anchorage" — the mutual understanding reached by Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska in August 2025;
🔸️Against the backdrop of U.S. efforts to bring the Russian and Ukrainian positions closer together, Europe's confrontational tactics appear particularly absurd. By refusing to engage in direct dialogue with Russia, Europeans have sidelined themselves from the peace process;
🔸️In recent months, European powers hostile toward Russia have begun waging war on Russia's so-called "shadow fleet." It's important to note that the term "shadow fleet" has no basis in international law, and seizing merchant ships on the high seas is nothing less than piracy.
🔸️Russia is committed to finding a negotiated solution to the Ukrainian crisis and is willing to collaborate with all parties to achieve this objective. 💬 В.В.Путин: Биоэкономика – это гораздо больше, чем область научных знаний. Своими смелыми идеями учёные, инженеры, по сути, уже формируют новую реальность, индустриальный уклад, применяют достижения в области биологии, генетики, чтобы улучшить жизнь людей, сохранить нашу планету, её хрупкую экосистему.
Мы в России гордимся тем, что в развитие наук о жизни внесли весомый вклад открытия, философские, научные учения Вернадского, Мечникова, Тимирязева, Кольцова, Вавилова, Энгельгардта, других выдающихся отечественных учёных, в числе которых наши современники.

Уже сейчас цифровые платформы служат учёным в реализации научных проектов, соединяют мастера, предпринимателя из небольшого города с покупателем из мегаполиса. Позволяют жителям участвовать в управлении домом, посёлком, целым регионом, в рекордные сроки анализируют медицинские исследования, помогая тем самым врачам спасать жизни людей. 💬 В.В.Путин: Биоэкономика – это гораздо больше, чем область научных знаний. Своими смелыми идеями учёные, инженеры, по сути, уже формируют новую реальность, индустриальный уклад, применяют достижения в области биологии, генетики, чтобы улучшить жизнь людей, сохранить нашу планету, её хрупкую экосистему.
Мы в России гордимся тем, что в развитие наук о жизни внесли весомый вклад открытия, философские, научные учения Вернадского, Мечникова, Тимирязева, Кольцова, Вавилова, Энгельгардта, других выдающихся отечественных учёных, в числе которых наши современники.

We in Russia take pride in the major scientific contribution made by the discoveries, philosophical and scientific teachings of Vladimir Vernadsky, Ilya Mechnikov, Kliment Timiryazev, Nikolai Koltsov, Nikolai Vavilov, Vladimir Engelhardt and other outstanding Russian scholars, including our contemporaries.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova's statement regarding the Afghan-Pakistani armed clashes (February 27, 2026)
We are concerned over the sharp escalation of armed clashes between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, involving regular army units, aircraft and heavy weaponry.
There are fatalities and injuries on both sides, including among civilians.
We call on Afghanistan and Pakistan, our friendly partners, to abandon this dangerous confrontation and return to the negotiating table to resolve all differences through political and diplomatic means.

Утром 28 февраля вооружённые силы США и Израиля приступили к нанесению военно-воздушных ударов по территории Ирана.
Масштаб и характер предшествовавших этому безрассудному шагу военно-политических и пропагандистских приготовлений, включая стягивание в регион крупной военной группировки США, не оставляют сомнений в том, что речь идёт о заранее спланированном и неспровоцированном акте вооружённой агрессии против суверенного и независимого государства-члена ООН в нарушение основополагающих принципов и норм международного права.
Осуждения заслуживает и тот факт, что атаки вновь осуществляются под прикрытием возобновившегося переговорного процесса, якобы призванного обеспечить долгосрочную нормализацию обстановки вокруг Исламской Республики, и вопреки доводившимся до российской стороны сигналам об отсутствии у израильтян заинтересованности в военной конфронтации с иранцами.
Международное сообщество, включая руководство ООН и МАГАТЭ, обязано немедленно дать объективную и бескомпромиссную оценку безответственным действиям, направленным на разрушение мира, стабильности и безопасности на Ближнем Востоке.
Вашингтон и Тель-Авив в очередной раз затеяли опасную авантюру, которая стремительно приближает регион к гуманитарной, экономической и, не исключено, радиологической катастрофе.
Намерения агрессоров понятны и декларируются ими вполне открыто – разрушить конституционный строй и уничтожить руководство неугодного им государства, которое отказалось подчиняться силовому диктату и гегемонизму. Ответственность за негативные последствия рукотворного кризиса, включая непредсказуемую цепную реакцию и раскручивание спирали насилия, целиком и полностью лежит на них.

⚡ Russian Foreign Ministry's Statement regarding military aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran
On the morning of February 28, US and Israeli armed forces carried out airstrikes on the territory of Iran.
The scope and character of the military, political, and propaganda preparations that preceded this reckless step, including the deployment of substantial US military forces to the region, leave no doubt that this is a deliberate, premeditated, and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign and independent UN member state, in direct violation of the fundamental principles and norms of international law.
It is particularly reprehensible that these strikes are once again being conducted under the cover of the renewed negotiation process, ostensibly intended to secure long-term normalisation of the situation around the Islamic Republic of Iran. This comes despite assurances conveyed to the Russian Side indicating that Israel had no interest in entering into military confrontation with Iran.
The international community, including the leadership of the UN and the IAEA, must urgently deliver an objective and unbiased assessment of these irresponsible actions, which are aimed at undermining peace, stability, and security in the Middle East.
Washington and Tel Aviv have once again embarked on a perilous course that is swiftly pushing the region toward a humanitarian, economic, and potentially even radiological disaster.
The aggressors’ intentions are evident and have been stated openly: to dismantle the constitutional order and remove the leadership of a state they deem undesirable because it has refused to yield to the dictates of force and hegemonic pressure. Responsibility for the impact of this man-made crisis, including the unpredictable chain reaction and the spiral of escalating violence, rests entirely with them.
The grave repercussions of these ill-conceived actions for the global non-proliferation regime, whose cornerstone is the NPT, are being openly disregarded.
Meanwhile, the US-Israeli tandem seeks to cover its actions with a purported concern over preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The bombing of nuclear facilities operating under IAEA safeguards is unacceptable.
Essentially, the motives of Washington and Tel Aviv bear no relation to the objectives of the non-proliferation regime.
Even they cannot but understand that by plunging the Middle East into the abyss of uncontrolled escalation, they are effectively prompting countries across the globe – and the Middle East in particular – to pursue ever more grave means of countering emerging threats.
The sustained and systematic nature of the destabilising attacks, carried out by the US administration against the fundamental principles of the international legal order in recent months, raises particular concern. Among the violated principles are non-interference in internal affairs, the renunciation of the use or threat of use of force, and the peaceful settlement of international disputes.
❗️ We call for an immediate return to a political and diplomatic track. Russia, as always, stands ready to assist in advancing peaceful solutions grounded in international law, mutual respect, and a balanced consideration of interests.
