#2500_double_pendulums. #Varying_initial_angles: domains of chaos and order.
Double Pendulum is the simplest mechanical system without friction and external forcing that demonstrates chaos. Integrable systems (none-chaotic) require the number of independent conserved quantities to match the number of degrees of freedom.
A visualization is given via using the Wolfram.

Are #polynomial_features the root of all #evil?
The approximation power of a model is its ability to represent the “reality” we would like to learn. Typically, approximation power increases with the complexity of the model - more parameters mean more power to represent any function to arbitrary precision. Polynomials are no different - higher degree polynomials can represent functions to higher accuracy. However, more parameters make it difficult to estimate these parameters from the data.
More details, can be seen in terms of the Bernstein polynomials with a proper justification using python:

“Are polynomial features the root of all evil?”
There is a well-known myth in the machine learning community - high degree polynomials are bad for modeling. In this post we debunk this myth.

Just an amazing!
Happy new Year!
As we approach the edge of 2024, let us reflect on the positive and negative slopes of the life vs. time graph. Whether this year was meant for you to win or not, one thing remains constant - the hands of the clock will keep moving and so must we.
A new year is knocking, and a fresh start is brimming - and as the clock strikes midnight, let us open our hearts to endless possibilities of a new chapter being written - a chapter that will hold the formulas to integrate happiness, differentiate negativity and solve every problem of the upcoming year. Let’s make sure that this year our life-defining function’s first derivative is zero and the second derivative is negative; meaning we will climb new heights never to fall again. And remember, even the smallest change can set off a chain of impactful events, just like the butterfly effect.
Happy New Year!

#Masaki_Kashiwara has #won the 2025 #Abel_Prize “for his fundamental contributions to algebraic analysis and representation theory.” https://abelprize.no/
In his early 20s, he established the theory of D-modules, a powerful framework for understanding systems of partial differential equations using methods from algebra and geometry. This work was foundational in establishing the burgeoning field of algebraic analysis. But it also had a surprising influence in representation theory, a branch of math that makes it easier to study important but abstract collections of symmetries.
Kashiwara continued to shape these fields throughout his career.
