It is to change the political and economic system of the world to one of total collectivism and to do that, people must not be allowed to have independence. Otherwise, they won't be easily controlled by the state. They can't have private property, they can't have land of their own. The people at the top want you to be dependent on the state. They don't want anybody living out in the boonies, they don't want anyone owning a couple of acres of land and water supply who can grow their food. The farmers are a threat to this collective society. They won't go to the politicians and say "please feed me, please help me."

They want people out of the country. They want the large corporations out there growing the food. To control mankind, they want them all in the cities, that way they can be controlled.
