I have been saying since this story began that I am not interested in joining Team Milo or Team Laura.

Milo and I definitely have not always seen eye to eye. He blocked me on X. He has said things I found offensive, and he has certainly said things I would never say myself.

None of that determines whether the government followed the law.

I support strong borders. I support ICE enforcing valid removal orders. I support expecting people who come into this country legally to follow the conditions under which they were admitted.

Milo does not deserve a celebrity exemption.

If he received proper notice, knowingly failed to appear, overstayed his lawful status, and an immigration judge properly ordered him removed, then the government had an order to enforce.

But there is another side of the rule of law that some people conveniently forget.

The government has to follow the rules too.

If three notices really came back marked “addressee unknown,” I want to know why the process continued using that address.

But I also want to know whether Milo had fulfilled his own legal responsibility to update that address.

Both facts matter.

I want to know whether his attorney was actually counsel of record.

I want to know whether that lawyer received notice.

I want to know exactly what the government knew and when it knew it.

That is not being soft on immigration.

That is demanding competent government.

Due process is not an obstacle to the rule of law. Due process is part of the rule of law.

And then we have these supposed calls from Washington.

I am not going to claim they prove political retaliation because we have nowhere near enough evidence to say that.

But I'm also not going to pretend the allegation should be ignored simply because asking questions might make somebody uncomfortable politically.

If they were routine calls, explain them.

If Washington was simply following a high-profile immigration case, that may be the entire answer.

If someone with political influence was pushing the government to accelerate or manipulate the process, then that would be a much more serious matter.

Facts first.

That same standard applies to Laura Loomer.

Laura had every right to report Milo to ICE.

If somebody believes another person is violating immigration law, they can notify authorities.

But Laura making a phone call and Laura controlling the federal government are two completely different claims.

Homan has now acknowledged she probably contacted ICE while insisting her involvement did not determine Milo’s legal fate. Until evidence shows otherwise, that distinction matters.

This is exactly why constitutional principles cannot depend upon whether we like the person standing in front of government power.

I don't need Milo to unblock me.

I don't need him to apologize.

I don't need to approve of his speech.

And I certainly don't need to pretend he has never been hypocritical about immigration enforcement.

He spent years demanding aggressive deportations.

Now he has experienced that system personally.

Maybe the ultimate lesson is simply that the rules he wanted aggressively enforced applied to him too.

But maybe the records will reveal procedural problems that need to be corrected.

Either outcome should be acceptable to anyone who actually believes in the rule of law.

Strong borders and due process can exist together.

Immigration enforcement and limited government can exist together.

Supporting ICE does not require giving any federal agency a blank check.

That is the difference between supporting government power and supporting government power with guardrails.

Milo has now made claims specific enough to test.

Did five notices go out?

Did three come back?

Did EOIR have the correct address?

Did Milo properly report his change of address?

Was his attorney notified?

Who was making the alleged Washington calls?

And will Milo actually file the motion to reopen he says remains available to him?
