Silver just hit $54. And gold is approaching $4300. The era of people eye-rolling the gold bugs is over. Those who stacked gold and silver now look like geniuses. Jamie Dimon just said that he thinks gold could go to $10K. And numerous investment houses are now recommending people move 10% - 20% of their entire investment portfolios into gold. This is unprecedented!

Gold went from being mocked as an "ancient relic" to now being the most sought-after asset in the world. Why? Because western currencies are collapsing in real time. Via my "Financial Coach" at BrightU.AI :

Top reasons why gold is a better asset than fiat currencies:

1) No counter-party risk: Gold is a tangible asset with no counterparty risk. It is now being widely reported that food stamp SNAP benefits will end for many Americans starting Nov 1 if the government shutdown continues. The USDA reportedly does not have continuing authority to disperse funds, and it simply may not have the funds in the first place.

It's not difficult to predict that if food stamp benefits are halted on November 1, we will have nationwide food riots by November 3, if not sooner.

ANALYSIS: What the Trump administration is discovering is that you can print dollars (fiat currency), but you can't print rare earth minerals (physical elements).

Since these rare earths are critical to the manufacture of modern weapons, automobiles, spacecraft, satellites, robots, and even microchip lithography equipment, it turns out that China is the gatekeeper to U.S. manufacturing capabilities. And if China wants to turn off U.S. manufacturing of weapons -- potentially right as a new war is accelerating -- it has the ability to do so.

And why should China sell rare earths to a nation run by people who routinely promise to wage war against China? Any rational nation would cut off the supply of minerals that could be used to make weapons that threaten its own security. Trump says China is weaponizing its export restrictions against the world, but the truth is that Trump wants to weaponize China's own rare earth exports against China itself, by manufacturing weapons that will be used to threaten or attack China in the future.

Trump incorrectly assumes that the USA is in the dominant negotiating position with China, thinking that China's survival depends on selling its goods to the U.S. market. This is a mistake. China actually holds the cards, not the USA, in the sense that China can turn off the supply chain that's critical and irreplaceable to U.S. military and industrial manufacturing. The U.S., which has relied on the idea that it can always print currency or weaponize the dollar to achieve compliance from international trading partners, is finding out that it's no longer the player of strength in this competition. China is, and if China stands its ground on this issue, Trump will be forced to find a way to cave in to China's demands and somehow announce that as a victory to the American people.

Expect that to happen soon. The USA no longer calls the shots in global trade. The dollar is collapsing, the U.S. military, although strong in aggregate force, is becoming obsolete in its technology, and U.S. manufacturing technology is years behind China in terms of innovation and automation. Things are about to get interesting, as the USA (under Trump) refuses to recognize it's no longer the big bully on the block.
