Day 3 and 4 of Immersion Week: From Execution to Scale

The focus is getting sharper. It is no longer just about ideas, but about decisions, direction, and building solutions that work in the real world.

Day 3 centered on execution. Through case studies and honest conversations, founders explored how to make the right product decisions, stay close to user needs, and think about sustainability. A key takeaway stood out: strong ideas alone are not enough. Growth comes from consistent, thoughtful decisions. The “Dream Killers” session also brought honest reflection on challenges and self-doubt.

Day 4 shifted to scale. Founders explored B2B, B2C, and B2G pathways, while highlighting the importance of partnerships in driving real impact. Through prototyping and iteration, ideas were tested and refined.

Across both days, founders are not just learning. They are building with clarity and purpose.

Building for Scale: Inside Our EdTech Immersion Week

As the week progressed, the shift was clear. Conversations deepened, questions sharpened, and founders focused not just on what they are building, but how far it can go.

As part of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, implemented by Reach for Change, fellows explored what scaling truly means in practice.

Key highlights:

Leadership and team building
Strong teams and clear leadership are essential as growth brings pressure.

Scaling operations
Founders examined systems and structures needed to sustain growth.

One on one reviews
Each fellow reflected on what is working and what needs to evolve.

The day also featured insights from Wariko Waita and a communications session by Joy Dorren Birra on branding and messaging.

Scaling is not just about growth. It is about staying strong and purposeful.

What does it really take for young entrepreneurs to turn ideas into real businesses?

Our Senior Project Manager, Elsabeth Tsegaye, joined Exchange Series Episode 2 on enabling pathways for youth entrepreneurs, hosted by Don Bosco Tech Africa and Welthungerhilfe. The discussion brought together voices from across Africa on how young people transition into work and what support truly makes a difference.

At Reach for Change Ethiopia, we see that an idea is just the beginning. Progress comes from testing ideas in real markets, staying resilient with limited resources, and solving everyday community challenges.

But effort alone is not enough. Many still face barriers like limited access to finance, complex regulations, and weak market linkages.

Closing these gaps is key to building sustainable, youth-led businesses that grow, create jobs, and drive impact.
