Al-Hasan Al-Basri [d.110H] said:

"I do not fear for you that your supplications are unanswered, but what I fear for you is that you are prevented from supplicating."

Imam al-Shafi'i [رحمه الله] said:

"Among the degradation of knowledge is that you debate everyone who debates you, or you argue with everyone who argues with you!"
And he said:
"Knowledge is ignorance to the people of ignorance, just as ignorance is ignorance to the people of knowledge!"

ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (d.32H) (رضي الله عنه) said:

“These hearts are containers, so busy them with the Qurʾān and do not busy them with anything other than it.”

Isḥāq bin Manṣūr Al-Kawsaj (رحمه الله) [d. 251 AH] said:

“I asked him [Al-Imām Aḥamd], ‘What about the one who says: The Qurʾān is created?’ He replied, ‘Attach every affliction to him.’

I said, ‘Is it said that he is a disbeliever?’ He replied, ‘Yes, by Allāh, every evil and every affliction is with them.’”

Al-Imam Al-Awzaa’i (d.157H) [رحمه الله] stated:

“Whoever stands a long time at night (in prayer), Allah will make his standing on the Day of Judgement easy.”
