Speaking on ABC’s This Week program, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan refrained from confirming whether the United States provided intelligence support to Israel or commented on how the operation might impact Hamas's acceptance of a ceasefire agreement.
"The fact is that the whole world is looking to Hamas to say 'yes'" he stated. "For all those people, for all these months who have been calling for a ceasefire, now is the moment."
Sullivan also noted that the US lacks precise figures on the number of Palestinians killed in the attack, while Gaza’s health ministry reported 274 Palestinian fatalities.
When asked whether Washington would endorse similar future Israeli raids even if they resulted in high numbers of Palestinian civilian casualties, Sullivan replied, "The United States will support Israel in taking steps to try to rescue hostages."
