Ansarallah Releases Crew Of Galaxy Leader Ship Over One Year Later
Yemeni forces captured the 52-member crew of the Israeli-linked commercial ship in November last year as part of its blockade of Israeli shipping in support of Gaza
The Yemeni government released the crew of the Galaxy Leader commercial ship on 22 January in response to the ceasefire deal to end Israel's genocidal war on Gaza.
“Based on the directives of the leader, Mr. Abdul Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the crew of the ship (Galaxy Leader) was released today in coordination with the Hamas movement and the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman,” a statement issued by Yemen's Supreme Political Council said.
“The release of the crew of the ship Galaxy Leader comes within the framework of the battle to support Gaza and in support of the ceasefire agreement,” the statement added.
After Israel's genocide on Gaza began in October 2023, the Ansarallah-led Yemeni government stated it would target any Israeli-linked commercial ships attempting to pass through the Red Sea off the Yemeni coast.
On 19 November 2023, 52 crew members on the Israeli-owned Galaxy Leader were detained by Yemeni naval forces who intercepted and seized the vessel in the Red Sea.

A new analysis that began under the Biden administration is released by the C.I.A.’s new director, John Ratcliffe, who wants the agency to get “off the sidelines” in the debate.
The C.I.A. has said for years that it did not have enough information to conclude whether the Covid pandemic emerged naturally from a wet market in Wuhan, China, or from an accidental leak at a research lab there.
But the agency issued a new assessment this week, with analysts saying they now favor the lab theory.
There is no new intelligence behind the agency’s shift, officials said. Rather it is based on the same evidence it has been chewing over for months.
The analysis, however, is based in part on a closer look at the conditions in the high security labs in Wuhan province before the pandemic outbreak, according to people familiar with the agency’s work.
A spokeswoman for the agency said the other theory remains plausible and that the agency will continue to evaluate any available credible new intelligence reporting.
Some American officials say the debate matters little: The Chinese government failed to either regulate its markets or oversee its labs. But others argue it is an important intelligence and scientific question.
John Ratcliffe, the new director of the C.I.A., has long favored the lab leak hypothesis. He has said it is a critical piece of intelligence that needs to be understood and that it has consequences for U.S.-Chinese relations.

The US president has promised Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu that he would be able to resume the war on Gaza if negotiations in later stages of the ceasefire prove 'futile.'
The Trump White House instructed the Pentagon to release the hold imposed by former president Joe Biden on the supply of 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, journalist Barak Ravid reported on 26 January for Axios.
Three Israeli officials told Ravid that 1,800 MK-84 bombs will be delivered by ship to Israel in the coming days.
The Pentagon notified the Israeli government about the release of the bombs on Friday, one Israeli official added.
"A lot of things that were ordered and paid for by Israel but have not been sent by Biden are now on their way!" President Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Saturday.
President Biden halted the delivery of only one shipment of 2,000-pound bombs last May. Israel has used powerful bombs in many of its most horrific mass killings of civilians in Gaza, including the massacre of over 100 in Jabalia camp on 31 October 2023.
