Biden paused one shipment of 2,000-pound bombs as part of a PR stunt to make it seem like he was putting pressure on Israel
Israel’s outgoing ambassador to the US expects President Trump to supply Israel with a shipment of 2,000-pound bombs that President Biden paused, Axios reported on Monday.
Biden put a hold on a 2,000-pound bomb shipment and a 500-pound bomb shipment back in April as part of a public relations stunt to make it seem like he was putting pressure on Israel over its plans to invade the southern city of Rafah.
Israel ended up invading Rafah, capturing its border crossing with Egypt, and now the city lies in ruin. Other US weapons continued to flow to Israel, and the pause on the 500-pound bombs was lifted in July , but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu used the pause on the 2,000-pound bombs to complain that Biden was restricting military aid.
Republicans in the US also claimed Biden was restricting military aid to Israel even though he supplied more weapons to Israel in a single year than any other president in history.
“We believe that Trump is going to release, at the beginning of his term, the munitions that haven’t been released until now by the Biden administration,” Israeli Ambassador Michael Herzog told Axios .

WEF Director Backs UN’s Pro-Censorship AI Watchdog, Praises France’s AI Summit On Control, And Announces 2025 Focus On AI Governance
The World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting is coming up and top representatives of this unelected group gathering global elites are “coming out of the woodwork” once again, together with a predictable set of policy endorsements.
Many of those policies are built on ideas that originate and were first publicly voiced at the Davos meetings, to then over time become formalized by top-level international institutions like the United Nations (UN), making it somewhat difficult to understand which is older – the chicken or the egg.
Ahead of the start of this year’s summit, WEF Managing Director Mirek Dusek told a news conference that the 2025 WEF meeting will focus on “AI” – specifically around “ AI governance ” and how governments handle the technology.
At the same time, Dusek was praising related censorship and surveillance initiatives such as the upcoming France Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence but also giving a nod to the UN’s High-level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence.
The latter, in its role as a global AI watchdog, published a report in September that goes into a number of recommendations tied to surveillance and censorship.
Here, Dusek appears to refer to it when he says that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “achieved important success in September” by establishing a body referred to as “the first installment in terms of international collaboration around AI.”

Some $10 billion will be needed to rebuild Gaza’s destroyed health system over the next five to seven years, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported on 17 January.
“The needs are massive,” said Rick Peeperkorn, the UN health agency’s representative in the Palestinian territories, following an initial assessment completed by the agency.
Efforts to assess the damage caused by Israel’s unrelenting 15-month bombing campaign began after a deal was reached for a ceasefire and prisoner swap between Israel and Hamas was agreed to Friday.
The Israeli bombing campaign and ground operations killed over 46,000 Palestinians, the majority women and children, according to the Gaza health ministry. However, the death toll is believed to be undercounted by 40 percent, according to a Lancet study.
Peeperkorn said his team’s initial estimate of the cost to rebuild just the health sector was “even more than $3 billion for the first 1.5 years and then actually $10 billion for the five to seven years.”
