❗️Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth reports that Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionist Party is contemplating leaving Israel's coalition government following the Gaza ceasefire and exchange deal.

Party members, including Israeli Knesset member Tzvi Succot, express concerns that halting military operations is a setback and are seeking assurances from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the war will continue.

Smotrich reportedly fears that the deal could damage his reputation, drawing parallels from Israeli politicians and past agreements like the 1993 Oslo Accords.

Internal pressures mount as the party debates its position, with some members criticizing other coalition partners for supporting the cease-fire.

The office stated, “Hamas reneges on parts of the agreement reached with the mediators and Israel in an effort to extort last-minute concessions. The Israeli cabinet will not convene until the mediators notify Israel that Hamas has accepted all elements of the agreement.”

The security cabinet meeting, originally scheduled for 11 am, was delayed.

❗️In response to the claims of Netanyahu's office, Hamas political bureau member Izzat al-Rishq:

"Hamas is committed to the ceasefire agreement, which the mediators announced."
Netanyahu Delays Approval Of Ceasefire Deal, Blames Hamas For ‘Backtracking’

Hebrew reports say the delay aims to address a political crisis caused by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s objection to the deal

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on 16 January that his cabinet will not convene to approve the ceasefire deal for Gaza as was scheduled, accusing Hamas of backtracking from the agreement one day after it was announced by Qatar and the US.

Hamas reneges on parts of the agreement reached with the mediators and Israel in an effort to extort last minute concessions. The Israeli cabinet will not convene until the mediators notify Israel that Hamas has accepted all elements of the agreement,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement.

In response, Hamas political bureau member Izzat al-Rishq said the resistance movement is “committed” to the ceasefire that was announced on Wednesday.

According to Israel’s Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) and other Israeli outlets, Netanyahu has delayed announcing approval of the deal due to the political crisis caused by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s threats to withdraw from the government in protest against the deal.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Smotrich is considering bolting the ruling coalition, and that some members of his party are demanding guarantees from Netanyahu that the war will resume. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has also stood against the deal.

Netanyahu Delays Approval Of Ceasefire Deal, Blames Hamas For ‘Backtracking’ Hebrew reports say the delay aims to address a political crisis caused by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s objection to the deal Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced…
🚨 Netanyahu Confirmed That a Deal Had Been Reached with Hamas on Hostages and a Ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

It is stated that he "received information from the negotiating team that agreements had been reached on a deal to release the hostages."

The Prime Minister has now ordered a military cabinet to be convened today. "The government will be convened later to approve the deal," the Prime Minister's Office added. Preparations are underway to return the hostages.

The signing of the deal
... implies a 42-day ceasefire and the mutual return of hostages and prisoners..

The far-right forces in Israel did not accept the agreement... since Israel is obliged to cease fire in the Gaza Strip.

At the same time, the media predicts that Netanyahu is unlikely to follow their lead and resume military action, since Trump is against this.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Offer 'Conditional Funding' For Lebanon's Reconstruction

The Gulf states are said to be seeking direct supervision over the spending of any aid they provide to Lebanon

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have signaled readiness to financially support the reconstruction of Lebanon after the brutal Israeli war on the country, but under certain conditions – according to a 15 January report by Al-Akhbar newspaper.

Senior officials in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait expressed, on the sidelines of international financial meetings, the two countries’ readiness to provide aid to Lebanon to bear the burden of the reconstruction process of what was destroyed by the Israeli aggression on Lebanon,” the newspaper cited informed sources as saying.

However, it is conditional that this is done “exclusively through the Lebanese state, and through a legal mechanism away from political calculations in Lebanon.

Saudi Arabia has been increasingly focusing on the Lebanese economic situation and has sent a report to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) inquiring about the matter, according to the newspaper.

Saudi officials stipulate that they have direct supervision over the spending of any money allocated to support Lebanon after the formation of the new government … Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked a number of Saudi businessmen to make contacts with Lebanese economic entities, and called on them to reconsider projects that were previously frozen,” the report said.

Italy Reassures Israel It Will Not Enforce ICC Arrest Warrant Against Netanyahu

Only six European nations have confirmed their intention to enforce the ICC warrants, while others state they will 'shield' Israeli authorities from prosecution for war crimes

The Italian government informed Israeli officials that it will not enforce arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant.

According to a report by the Times of Israel published on 15 January, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Justice Minister Carlo Nordio “assured” Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar that Rome “received legal advice that heads of state, including Netanyahu, have immunity during visits to Italy, based on the Vienna Convention.

The ICC issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant in November for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. The charges include starvation of civilians as a method of warfare and intentionally directing attacks against a civilian population.

As an original signatory of the 1998 Rome Statute, Italy is obligated under Article 86 to fully cooperate with the ICC in its investigations and prosecutions, including executing requests for the arrest and surrender of individuals sought by the ICC.

The arrest of Netanyahu is unfeasible, at least as long as he is prime minister,” Tajani said last year following the issuance of the arrest warrants.
