Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with President Biden on Sunday and thanked the American leader for his “lifelong support” for the state of Israel, the White House said in a readout of the call.

“The Prime Minister thanked the President for his lifelong support of Israel and for the extraordinary support from the United States for Israel’s security and national defense,” the White House said.

President Biden, who has repeatedly described himself a “Zionist,” has been a staunch supporter of Israel throughout his political career and provided an unprecedented amount of military aid to Israel since October 7, 2023, which enabled the genocidal war in Gaza and other escalations across the region.

From October 7, 2023, to October 7, 2024, the Biden administration provided Israel with more military aid in a single year than any other US administration in history. Despite the massive support, Netanyahu had repeatedly complained that the US was shipping weapons too slowly.

During the call on Sunday, which came just eight days before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, Biden and Netanyahu also discussed the prospects of a hostage and ceasefire deal.

The Israeli army said in a statement that it targeted weapons sites and smuggling routes belonging to Hezbollah

The Israeli army launched violent air raids on southern and eastern Lebanon late on 12 January, marking a significant escalation of Israel’s ceasefire violations two weeks before the end of the 60-day implementation period.

Video footage on social media showed a large explosion as a result of the Israeli air raid near the town of Deir al-Zahrani in the south.

Villages in Nabatieh were also hit with heavy strikes, including several in the town of Houmine. In eastern Lebanon, strikes hit near the border, targeting the towns of Janta and Kasr.

“In recent hours, Air Force fighter jets attacked and destroyed a number of terrorist targets of the Hezbollah terrorist organization throughout Lebanon, under the direction of the Intelligence Branch,” the Israeli army said in a statement.

“Among the targets attacked: a rocket launcher site, a military site, and crossing routes on the Syrian–Lebanon border used to transfer weapons to the Hezbollah terrorist organization,” it added.

Saed Abu Nabhan was among a group helping evacuate an injured man on a stretcher when an Israeli sniper shot him

An Israeli sniper shot and murdered a freelance cameraman for Turkiye’s Anadolu Agency, Saed Abu Nabhan, while he was on duty in the Nuseirat area of the central Gaza Strip, the agency reported on 10 January.

Nabhan was covering an Israeli raid in Gaza when he was fatally shot with a long-barreled gun, the Turkish news agency said. He was among a group of journalists evacuating an injured man on a stretcher when the sniper killed him.

Nabhan was among 21 killed across the Gaza Strip since this morning, medical sources speaking to Al-Jazeera reported.

An Israeli strike on Friday destroyed a multi-story residential building belonging to the Fananah family in Gaza City,

Civil Defense members said they were “attempting to recover what can be saved from under the rubble” of the destroyed building in Gaza City’s Shujaiya neighborhood.

A delegation of extremist Israeli Jewish settler leaders has been invited to participate in US President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next Monday in Washington, Israel Hayom reported on 13 January.

The delegation comprises Yesha Council chairman and Benjamin Regional Council Head Israel Ganz, Oranit Council Head Or Piron-Zomer, Yesha Council CEO Omer Rahamim, and Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan.

The group will attend the inauguration as official guests and will hold meetings with incoming administration officials and leaders from the US Jewish and evangelical Christian communities. A similar delegation attended Trump’s 2017 inauguration.

“Our objective is to strengthen existing connections and forge new ones. Washington’s attention is elsewhere at present. Trump is focused on Greenland sovereignty matters, not Israel’s concerns in Judea and Samaria. Timing is crucial. We must proceed strategically and appropriately,” a council official told the Hebrew newspaper.

The Yesha Council and other regional authorities that oversee illegal settlement activity in the occupied West Bank – which they call Judea and Samaria – “have devoted considerable resources to cultivating relationships with Republican Party leadership in recent years,” Israel Hayom added.

Israel's National Security Minister Takes Credit For Repeatedly Blocking Gaza Ceasefire, Captive Exchange Deals

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has repeatedly claimed Hamas is at fault for not reaching a deal to end the war and release captives on each side

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said on 14 January that he had prevented Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from agreeing to several proposals for a ceasefire and prisoner swap with Hamas in Gaza over the past year.

“In the past year, through our political strength, we succeeded in preventing such a deal from being made, time and again,” said Ben Gvir, who is head of the Otzman Yehudit Party and a minister in Netanyahu's governing coalition.

Ben Gvir and his ally, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, previously threatened Netanyahu they would quit his coalition and thereby potentially topple him from the prime minister post if he agreed to a deal that would end the fighting in Gaza and release the Israeli captives held by Hamas and some of the thousands of Palestinians held captive in Israeli prisons.

However, Ben Gvir said he lost this leverage when Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and his New Hope faction joined the coalition in September.

“Recently, other actors who support the deal have joined the government, and we no longer hold the balance of power,” he complained.

Israel, PA Escalate West Bank Violence Ahead Of 'Imminent' Gaza Ceasefire

PA security services set fire to a home in Jenin as part of its siege on the city’s camp, which has been ongoing for over a month

The heavy fighting and violence gripping the occupied West Bank has escalated as Israeli army forces continue raids across the territory while Palestinian Authority (PA) troops besiege the refugee camp in the city of Jenin as part of a brutal operation that has been ongoing for over 40 days.

Dozens of Palestinians were arrested in raids across the West Bank on 14 January. The Israeli army stormed the town of Burqa northwest of Nablus, continued raids in Jenin, and sent special forces into Aqabat Jabr camp near the city of Jericho.

“After contact was restored with one of our combat formations, they confirmed to us that this morning they were able to confront a special Zionist force that tried to besiege a house in the Jabal Umm al-Qasab axis and shower it with heavy hail of bullets,” the Jenin Brigade of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement’s Quds Brigades said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Our heroes were also able to shower the military reinforcements with heavy volleys of bullets, achieving confirmed casualties,” it added.

The Jenin Brigade is also fighting off a PA siege and military incursion into its city’s refugee camp.

Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Knefati, Director of the Public Security Department in Lattakia, tells SANA:

"While a Public Security Department patrol was carrying out its routine tasks in the countryside of Qardaha today, the patrol was attacked by remnants of Assad's militias, which led to the martyrdom of two and the injury of others. 200 Israeli Soldiers Who Refuse To Fight In Gaza Send Letter To Netanyahu Demanding An End To The War

As the Israeli onslaught in Gaza drags into its 15th month, a growing number of IDF soldiers are refusing to return to the battlefield. Some say they witnessed war crimes in Gaza and no longer want to be a part of the conflict that several human rights organizations have labeled a genocide. 200 Israeli soldiers signed a letter calling for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the war.

One of the soldiers, Yuval Green, a 27-year-old medic, told the AP he walked off his post last January. He said he decided he could no longer be a part of the war in Gaza after witnessing his fellow soldiers loot and destroy Palestinians’ homes.

A second soldier, Yotam Vilk, explained that he decided he would not return to Gaza after he witnessed the murder of a Palestinian teenager in what he described as a “buffer zone.”

Israel has set up multiple “kill zones” in Gaza. As Haaretz explained in March, anyone killed in a designated kill zone is labeled a “terrorist” even if they “never held a gun in their lives,” and they are “often civilians whose only crime was to cross an invisible line drawn by the IDF.”

Green and Vilk are some of the 200 Israeli soldiers – members of the group Soldiers for the Hostages – who signed a letter addressed to Netanyahu demanding an end to the war in Gaza. The IDF told the AP it condemned the soldiers’ refusal to serve.

At the group’s conference, the AP said they spoke with seven Israeli soldiers who reported witnessing war crimes including indiscriminately killing and destroying homes. Some reported they were ordered to set fire to the houses.

Reports of Alawites being kidnapped and killed by armed extremist factions affiliated with Syria's new government continue to emerge on social media

Militants affiliated with the new Syrian government, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, are kidnapping and murdering members of Syria's Alawite community...

Immediately after ousting the government of Bashar al-Assad and taking power in Damascus on 8 December, militants from HTS began targeting members of the Alawite community based on accusations of crimes they committed as part of the previous government.

However, Al-Akhbar reported.. that in the Hama governorate, especially in the villages of its northern and eastern countryside, HTS and affiliated militants are carrying out “liquidation operations based on identity, without making accusations against them, such as that they are 'regime remnants' or were 'against the revolution' before ordering the killing.”

The Lebanese paper reports that militants affiliated with the new government are "terrorizing the residents of the Alawite sect and pressuring them to evacuate their homes, especially in some eastern villages affiliated with Salamiyah," which will lead to demographic changes in the region.

In the villages of Al-Zaghba, Mabatan, Maryoud, Al-Fanat, and Maan in the eastern countryside, armed factions are stealing, looting, and burning homes to ensure that residents do not return...

He added that "the militants killed a civilian man from the village who returned to check on his house during the past two days."

When he contacted authorities from the new government to "find out the affiliation of these killers, who responded that the area was outside the control of its factions and that it had nothing to do with the violations taking place there."

Reports of sectarian killings by HTS or affiliated militants in Homs, Latakia, and Tartous continue to emerge on social media.

The CDC’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics (CFA) has partnered with the CIA-linked Palantir to cement the public-private model of invasive surveillance in “public health,” all while pushing the U.S. national security state and Silicon Valley even closer together.

The Pentagon and Silicon Valley are in the midst of cultivating an even closer relationship as the Department of Defense (DoD) and Big Tech companies seek to jointly transform the American healthcare system into one that is “artificial intelligence (AI)-driven.” The alleged advantages of such a system, espoused by the Army itself, Big Tech and Pharma executives as well as intelligence officers, would be unleashed by the rapidly developing power of so-called “predictive medicine,” or “a branch of medicine that aims to identify patients at risk of developing a disease, thereby enabling either prevention or early treatment of that disease.”

This will apparently be achieved via mass interagency data sharing between the DoD, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the private sector. In other words, the military and intelligence communities, as well as the public and private sector elements of the US healthcare system, are working closely with Big Tech to “predict” diseases and treat them before they occur...

... it appears that another—if not primary—purpose of this push towards a predictive AI-healthcare infrastructure is the resurrection of a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)-managed and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)-supported program that Congress officially “shelved” decades ago. That program, Total Information Awareness (TIA), was a post 9/11 “pre-crime” operation which sought to use mass surveillance to stop terrorists before they committed any crimes..

While the “pre-crime” aspect of TIA is the best known component of the program, it also included a component that sought to use public and private health and financial data to “predict” bioterror events and pandemics before they emerge. This was TIA’s “Bio-Surveillance” program... While ostensibly created to thwart “bioterror” events, the program also sought to create algorithms for identifying “normal” disease outbreaks.. ranging from pandemics to presumably other, less severe disease events...
