NEW — Senator Elizabeth Warren says, "There's a new threat out there, it's crypto," and "it is being used for terrorist financing, drug trafficking, and North Korea is using it to pay for about half of its nuclear weapons program."

FOI Request Reveals Bellingcat Collusion with Western Intelligence

An extraordinary email uncovered by a Dutch researcher under freedom of information laws confirms what many have long charged: Bellingcat, the “open source” collective widely cited by mainstream journalists and loved by the CIA, collaborates directly with Western intelligence agencies.

An email sent on November 12 2020 by an officer within Amsterdam’s National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) shows a Bellingcat investigation was intentionally shared with the agency prior to publication, so as to assist the Dutch spooks in shaping media strategies and messaging following its release.

The revealing communication is irrefutable proof of the cozy relationship the self-styled “independent investigative collective of researchers, investigators and citizen journalists” enjoys with Western intelligence services.

🚨BREAKING: Israel Sharply Ramps Up Gaza Strikes, U.S. Alarmed

Israel sharply ramped up strikes on the Gaza Strip, pounding the length of the Palestinian enclave and killing hundreds in a new, expanded phase of the war that Washington said veered from Israeli promises to do more to protect civilians.

The Israeli military said on Friday it had struck more than 450 targets in Gaza from land, sea and air over the past 24 hours - the most since a truce collapsed last week and about double the daily figures typically reported since then.

US Looks to Help Ukraine Increase Its Own Weapons Production

Jake Sullivan says the idea is to make Ukraine less reliant on US aid

Ukrainian officials traveled to Washington this week to attend a conference on building up Ukraine’s own military industrial complex to reduce its reliance on the West for military equipment.

Opening the conference on Wednesday, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the US and its allies would work to strengthen “Ukraine’s defense industrial base, both to maintain Ukraine’s current war effort and to bolster Ukraine’s national strength and deterrence long into the future.”

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told Reuters that Ukraine “becoming more self-sufficient in weapons production obviously alleviates the long-term need for continued supply of weapons from the United States and other Western countries.”

The US and Ukraine are also looking to jointly produce arms. A Ukrainian minister who attended the conference said Kyiv had an agreement with two American companies to jointly manufacture 155mm artillery shells, which are in short supply as the US shipped millions to support the war against Russia.

Israeli Captive Says She was Afraid of Israel Killing Her, Not Hamas

Haaretz reported that during a meeting between released Israeli captives, representatives of families of current captives, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a woman who was held in the Gaza Strip said that the prisoners were scared they would be killed by Israel’s bombardment – not Hamas.

"What I see on TV scares me a lot. I see [Israeli] bombings there, and you have no idea where the captives are. I was in a house surrounded by explosions. We slept in tunnels, and we feared not Hamas, but Israel might kill us, and then it would have been said, 'Hamas killed you,' she said.

The personal genomics and biotech firm 23andMe has been grappling with a cybersecurity dilemma that initially came to light on October 6th. And not only has security been revealed as a major issue but the company’s response to the breaches has also been alarming.

Astonishingly, they stated that they now had access to over 4 million genetic profile records. In a startling disclosure on December 4th, the overall fallout from this intrusion affected 6.9 million users.

As first discovered on Hacker News, in the midst of this crisis, 23andMe has decided to revise its Terms of Service (TOS), thus requiring users to agree to binding arbitration, a process in which disputes are settled beyond conventional court settings.
