The Attack On Kamal Adwan Marks The Culmination Of A Three-Month Campaign Of Ethnic Cleansing And Destruction In The Northern City Of Beit Lahiya.
In the morning hours of Dec. 27, Israeli army forces stormed the Kamal Adwan Hospital compound in Beit Lahiya, culminating a nearly week-long siege of the last functioning hospital in northern Gaza.
Soldiers forcibly moved patients out of Kamal Adwan to the Indonesian Hospital further south in the city, which had itself been subjected to an evacuation order by the military several days earlier.
“Surgical departments, laboratory, maintenance, and emergency units have been completely burned, and the fire is now spreading,” a statement released by the hospital staff read, warning that patients are “at risk of dying at any moment.” Hospital Director Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya told Palestinian media that he received a “clear and direct warning” from the army that he would be arrested.
In a statement, the Israeli army claimed it was operating inside the hospital “following prior intelligence about the presence of militants, terrorist infrastructure, and terrorist activity at the site,” and was “allowing patients and staff at the hospital to evacuate the area in an orderly manner.”
On Thursday, an Israeli airstrike on a building in the vicinity of Kamal Adwan reportedly killed 50 people. Among them were five hospital staffers, according to Dr. Abu Safiya, who spoke with +972 on two occasions this week.
“We need the world to understand that this hospital is being deliberately targeted. The people here are not just patients — they are victims of a systematic attempt to destroy our capacity to save lives,” he told +972 on Dec. 23.

News editor Raffi Berg reportedly controls online coverage of genocide in Gaza to ensure Israeli crimes are 'watered down' or ignored
BBC editor Raffi Berg has almost complete control of the British broadcaster's online coverage of Israel's war on Gaza and is ensuring that all events are reported with a pro-Israel bias, according to a new report published on 28 December by Drop Site News.
"This guy's entire job is to water down everything that's too critical of Israel," one former BBC journalist said.
Drop Site News spoke to 13 current and former staffers who stated that the BBC's coverage consistently devalues Palestinian life, ignores Israeli atrocities, and creates a false equivalence in an entirely unbalanced conflict.
Another BBC journalist said Berg plays a key role in a broader BBC culture of "systematic Israeli propaganda."
"How much power he has is wild," said another journalist.
"There was an extreme fear at the BBC, that if you ever wanted to do anything about Israel or Palestine, editors would say: 'If you want to pitch something, you have to go through Raffi and get his signoff," another journalist explained.
In one case, Berg downplayed Amnesty International's accusation that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
Berg chose a headline that stated, "Israel rejects 'fabricated' claims of genocide," to describe the Amnesty report and failed to post the story for 12 hours after it was written to suppress its online reach.
The journalists interviewed by Drop Site also noted that the Amnesty report was not covered on the BBC's flagship news programs—BBC One's News At One, News At Six, or News At Ten or its flagship current affairs program, BBC Two's Newsnight.
"Anyone who writes on Gaza or Israel is asked: 'Has it gone to edpol [editorial policy], lawyers, and has it gone to Raffi?'" another journalist said.
Raffi Berg, who wrote a book praising clandestine Mossad operations, wields great power to influence perceptions of Israel's war on Gaza because the BBC news website is the most-visited news site on the internet, with over 1.1 billion visits in May alone.

Just a few months into the war, the Israeli military killed 15,000 Palestinians and fired more than 30,000 munitions into Gaza
The Israeli army has “severely weakened” its protocols to protect civilians during military operations since the start of the war in Gaza, allowing mid-ranking officers to order indiscriminate strikes from the air force, according to a New York Times (NYT) investigation.
According to NYT, officers were granted the authority right after 7 October to risk the killing of up to 20 civilians in each airstrike. The order had “no precedent” in Israel’s military history.
“Mid-ranking officers had never been given so much leeway to attack so many targets, many of which had lower military significance, at such a high potential civilian cost” NYT said, adding that under this order, “the military could target rank-and-file militants as they were at home surrounded by relatives and neighbors.”

Just a few months into the war, the Israeli military killed 15,000 Palestinians and fired more than 30,000 munitions into Gaza
The Israeli army has “severely weakened” its protocols to protect civilians during military operations since the start of the war in Gaza, allowing mid-ranking officers to order indiscriminate strikes from the air force, according to a New York Times (NYT) investigation.
According to NYT, officers were granted the authority right after 7 October to risk the killing of up to 20 civilians in each airstrike. The order had “no precedent” in Israel’s military history.
“Mid-ranking officers had never been given so much leeway to attack so many targets, many of which had lower military significance, at such a high potential civilian cost” NYT said, adding that under this order, “the military could target rank-and-file militants as they were at home surrounded by relatives and neighbors.”

Syria's De Facto Ruler Says It Will Take Four Years To Hold Elections
Ahmed al-Sharaa said it will take three years to write a new constitution
Syria’s de facto ruler, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) leader Ahmed al-Sharaa (Abu Mohammad al-Julani), stated on 29 December that organizing elections and writing a constitution for the country may take years.
Following the fall of former president Bashar al-Assad’s government on 8 December, Sharaa announced the establishment of a caretaker government that would last for three months.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya on Sunday, Sharaa stated, “The process of writing the constitution may take about three years, and we look forward to a constitution that lasts for the longest possible period, and this is a difficult and lengthy task.”
“Organizing elections may take four years; any valid elections will require a comprehensive population census,” Sharaa told the Saudi news channel.
Sharaa has appointed several fellow HTS members as ministers in the caretaker government, including ministers of defense, justice, and intelligence.
Many held posts in the Salvation Government, which Sharaa established to rule Idlib after HTS conquered the governorate in northwest Syria with CIA assistance in 2015.
Sharaa stated that the appointment of the new ministers and other state officials was part of a necessary stage that is “preparatory to a longer interim government.”
A delay in holding elections may allow Sharaa to consolidate control of Syria and assist him and his supporters in remaining in power for a long time...
Sharaa also announced that HTS, the former Al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, would be dissolved at the upcoming National Dialogue Conference.
The HTS leader stated that neighboring Saudi Arabia will play a large role in Syria’s future.
“I am proud of everything Saudi Arabia has done for Syria, and Saudi Arabia has major investment opportunities in Syria,” Sharaa said.
“Liberating Syria guarantees the security of the region and the Gulf for the next 50 years," he added.
Sheraa also explained that his government is in talks with the US-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to resolve the crisis in northeastern Syria and to include them in the government's armed forces.
The SDF is currently battling a Turkish-backed faction, the Syrian National Army (SNA), in areas of northern Syria, including Manbij and the Tishreen Dam. Alongside occupying US forces, the SDF controls Syria's major oil fields.

❗️A report by the Times of Israel shows new photos of the Netzarim Corridor in Gaza, showing how Israel has bolstered its presence in the Netzarim Corridor. It says that the bases and infrastructure the army is constructing signal an intention to stay indefinitely.
In one of the photos, newly erected cell towers are visible, demonstrating that the supposed initial stance of the Israeli army claiming to have not allowed their soldiers bring their phones to Gaza has "changed."
An Israeli deputy brigade commander that was interviewed said:
"We need to give the soldiers minimal facilities in which to live. We are the IDF, not some guerrilla organization. I don’t want to use equipment that belongs to Palestinians, and I don’t want to use Palestinians’ homes.”
All the offices and living quarters in the bases had air conditioning. A new water line was extended from Israel, and industrial generators were brought in. Functional toilets, hot water, and electricity are available 24/7.

A new report by the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has revealed the shocking conduct of Israeli army forces, including executions and sexual assault, during their recent storming of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip’s Beit Lahia.
According to testimonies collected by the human rights monitor, Israel’s latest storming of the north Gaza hospital included deliberate killings and field executions, and sexual and physical assaults on women, including medical staff members and displaced civilians.
“These included detonating booby-trapped robots near several inhabited homes, causing their collapse and killing civilians inside. The crimes also involved Israeli soldiers executing civilians on the spot, some of whom were wounded, while others carried white flags,” according to the eyewitness accounts cited in the report.
Dozens of women and girls were detained and subjected to “severe abuse,” it adds. “This included beating them and forcing them to remove their hijabs and clothing.”
Those in and around the hospital were forced to flee outside northern Gaza at gunpoint. Dozens of people were abducted by Israeli forces during the raid, including Kamal Adwan Hospital director Hussam Abu Safia.
