Hostages' Families Block PM's Knesset Office, Demand Gaza Deal After Lebanon Truce — Times of Israel

Relative argues if Israel can still act in Lebanon in case of violation, it can do so in Strip as well; captive’s mom confronts Ben Gvir, who says he won’t free ‘1,000 Sinwars’

Relatives of hostages held for over a year in the Gaza Strip temporarily blocked the entrance to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Knesset office on Wednesday, demanding that he meet with them and promote a hostage deal to free their loved ones.

The demonstration came a day after Netanyahu and his government approved a ceasefire with Hezbollah in Lebanon, with the premier explaining that the deal would not prevent Israel from resuming the fighting if the Lebanese terror group tries to reestablish its presence near the border.

Eli Albag, whose young daughter Liri was taken captive during Hamas’s October 7 onslaught last year, said that just as Netanyahu managed to seal a deal to end the fighting in Lebanon, he must do so in Gaza as well.

“If you want to, you can. Please, we are begging you from the bottom of our hearts,” Albag said.

The protesters were later removed by Knesset security.

They then went down one floor and blocked the stairs leading to the faction wing of the building, where the various political parties hold meetings and press conferences.

Sharon Sharabi, the brother of captive Eli Sharabi and slain hostage Yossi Sharabi, made a similar argument.

..“We have reached a ceasefire ...we understand that it is possible to leave Lebanon and also return to Lebanon,” Sharabi said.

Similarly, he argued, “It is possible to leave Gaza [for a deal] and return to Gaza when we need to — but first of all our hostages must be home.”

...Meanwhile, the families of the seven remaining American-Israeli hostages lamented that their “Thanksgiving tables will have an empty chair again,” as they readied to mark a second holiday without them.

Separately on Wednesday, the outspoken mother of a hostage held in Gaza got into a heated argument with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir at a Knesset National Security Committee meeting, accusing him of being more concerned with rebuilding settlements in the Strip than with the fate of the 101 captives held there.

Einav Zangauker, mother of hostage Matan Zaungauker, who has often voiced her fiery criticism of the government, said that “yesterday you said that the hostages need a little bit of patience,” prompting a denial from Ben Gvir that he had spoken of hostages. (On Tuesday evening, Ben Gvir was asked about the possibility of a hostage deal during an interview with Channel 12 news and answered that “we need some patience to bring Hamas to its knees.”)

Ceasefire Falters As Israel Launches Airstrikes, Artillery Shelling On Southern Lebanon

Israel says ‘suspects’ in vehicles violate ceasefire by trying to return home

The Israel-Lebanon ceasefire began Wednesday morning . Less than two days later, it seems to be faltering, with multiple reports of Israeli attacks across southern Lebanon, and claims of violations by both sides.

Israel carried out an airstrike against the outskirts of Baysariyeh, which is near Tyre. They confirmed the attack, saying they were targeting a Hezbollah storage facility after seeing “terrorist activity.” They added in their statement that they were “acting to enforce violations of the ceasefire.”

Though the claims of violations are coming from both sides, so far it is only Israeli forces whose violations actually involve firing. Lebanese people continue to try to return to their homes in the south, despite Israel’s military forbidding them to do so.

There are multiple reports of Israel carrying out artillery shelling against towns and villages across southern Lebanon this afternoon. Strikes were reported against the towns of Halta, Taybeh, Khiam, and Rmeish. In Rmeish the attack damaged a supermarket and a home. Three were injured in Taybeh.

There were also reported Israeli tank shellings in several places, including the village of Markaba. In that incident, a car was attacked and multiple civilians were wounded. Israeli ground troops also opened fire on vehicles multiple times across southern Lebanon, incidents which happened both on Wednesday and Thursday.

Israeli Army Builds New Land Corridor To Isolate North Gaza, Prevent Return Of Displaced

The construction of the corridor commenced as the army began implementing the so-called Generals' Plan to ethnically cleanse north Gaza

Israel is creating a new military corridor in Gaza, separating the towns of Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia in the far north of the strip from Gaza City in the center, satellite images studied by BBC Verify show...

Israeli troops and vehicles occupy the new corridor, which analysts suggest the army is using to split Gaza into zones to facilitate control and prevent displaced Palestinians from ever returning to their homes there.

Israel has already established two military corridors to divide Gaza into zones. The Netzarim corridor divides Gaza City in the center of the strip from Khan Yunis in the south. The Philadelphi corridor divides Rafah in southern Gaza from Egypt, giving Israeli troops control of the Egypt border and crucial Rafah Crossing. Most humanitarian aid previously entered the besieged enclave through the Rafah Crossing. Before its closure, injured Palestinians were able to exit the war zone through the crossing to seek treatment abroad.

Dr H.A. Hellyer, a West Asia security expert from the Rusi think tank, told the BBC that the satellite images suggest Israel was establishing the corridor to block the more than 100,000 Palestinian civilians who have been expelled from their homes in northern Gaza from returning.

Hellyer said the Israeli army is “digging in for the long term. I would absolutely expect the north partition to develop exactly like the Netzarim Corridor.”

Construction of the new corridor in north Gaza starting in October corresponds with Israel’s implementation of the Generals’ Plan.

Under the strategy devised by former general Giora Eiland, the Israeli army issued orders for all Palestinians to leave northern Gaza, while those who are unable to or refuse to leave will be besieged, bombed, and starved.

The article would introduce:

”Russia and Iran both have security interests in Syria and appear to be working together with the Syrian government to push US forces out of the country in a coercive and systematic effort that has expanded, war experts say.

The multifaceted campaign endangers American troops, threatens US interests in the region, and also directly interferes with the US-led fight against a growing ISIS threat...”

This is what American exceptionalism is... The US is illegally occupying a third of Syria... plundering the resources of the country... imposing unilateral sanctions on Syria... Yet, Syria is interfering with American Interests? ...

...The Business Insider article frames the US mission and priority in Syria to be in dealing with ISIS.

It is well documented that the US National Security Apparatus was intent on removing Assad before ISIS even existed.

A 2012 DOD intelligence report shows the intent to remove Assad before he was first accused of chemical weapons, which wouldn’t come until 2013 as I wrote in my 2019 article on the first OPCW leak featured below.

"The document shows not only that the US and allied powers helped create ISIS by knowingly supporting various terrorists groups, not only that they predicted an Islamic state would form as a consequence of their support, but that “that’s exactly what the supporting powers of the opposition want”... We were funding jihadis from the start, as was Saudi Arabia and Qatar and other powers. Why?"....

The Guardian would report on the declassified 2012 DOD intelligence report published by Judicial Watch:

"... There was no al-Qaida in Iraq until the US and Britain invaded. And the US has certainly exploited the existence of ISIS against other forces in the region as part of a wider drive to maintain western control."...

Yet, now the US, who deliberately expedited the rise of ISIS, is accusing the Syria and Russia... of interfering with their operation to stop ISIS from spreading…an Islamic State that the US national security apparatus literally wanted to form a couple years before it conveniently did *equipped with a bunch of US military gear*...

... So if we have established that the US had already intended to remove Assad before ISIS…. Why is the US in Syria stealing their oil again, if it isn’t to fight ISIS, if the intention was set before the use of chemical weapons?

I ended my article from 2019 by referencing a 2016 article by RFK Jr that attempts to answer this question... Titled, “Why The Arabs Don’t Want Us in Syria”:

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday suggested Russia could strike “decision-making centers” in Ukraine with its new Oreshnik missile as a potential response to Ukraine firing US and British missiles into Russian territory.

“The Defense Ministry and the General Staff of the Russian Army are currently selecting targets to strike on the territory of Ukraine,” Putin said at a  Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) meeting in Kazakhstan, according to TASS .

In response to two recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory that used the US-provided Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), which have a range of up to 190 miles, the Russian Defense Ministry said it was preparing retaliation.

“These targets may include military facilities, defense industry enterprises, or decision-making centers in Kiev,” Putin said.

The Oreshnik is a new intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile that is capable of being armed with nuclear warheads. Russia fired an Oreshnik missile into Ukraine on November 21 in response to US ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles being fired into Russian territory for the first time.
